New Orleans going back to chocolate city status

People were saying that NOLA was being gentrified like crazy and returning to majority white and middle class which at some point in the 2010s it did feel that way but all that has changed.
The latest census is showing the city experiencing a huge drop in its white population who make up most of the city's middle class after having the fastest growth in the 2010s. The white population had the largest dropped compared to everybody else. Those hipster white liberals started to feel the consequences of their shitty voting habits and said "NO MORE!"
So yes New Orleans is going back go the hell hole it was before Katrina. And people always say the crime in the crack era was worse but it wasn't ... most of that crime was concentrated in a few areas and also New Orleans was still a growing thriving city back then with a lot of jobs that paid a livable wage. Today crime is EVERYWHERE (even the good parts) and it's not a growing thriving city anymore b/c very few jobs pay a livable wage so you know what that means? Yep, more crime, more homelessness, and more rampant degenerate behavior destroying the city
Of course the wealthy Mardi Gras ball families who run the city are not going anywhere but as far as the city attracting more desirable new residents regardless of race who can help save the city ... yeah I don't see that happening anymore.

I left Chef Mentuer and Sherwood in the early 90’s. Unless skate country reopens, I just can’t see moving back.

ETA: Where are these numbers coming from? What census was done in 2024?

Nashville has some of the most beautiful well dressed women. Not sure if they were visiting or lived there but I seen so many gorgeous women. Ladies you definitely got to be careful b/c I did run into some bourbon soaked Appalachia mountain bred super horny honky tonk guys that look like the types to drop stuff in drinks which I was told is common on Broadway. But guys gotta be careful too b/c these seedy women do the same not for easy sex but to rob you. I don't have a favorite Broadway bar b/c they all pretty much gave the same vibe but all the bands were decent to great. The food was surprisingly good. Gumbo Bros (LSU alum owned) downtown and 312 Pizza Company in Germantown were my favorites.
What I didn't like were the hills. I didn't realize Nashville was so hilly so it wasn't always an easy walk to get around. Also even though I had a decent experience, Broadway almost gave me Greek row top house vibes. It seems like the people having the most fun and were the least sober were all privileged hot confident people ... I almost felt sorry for all the fat and unattractive insecure people watching everyone else enjoy themselves and get attention.
Overall I would move to Nashville if I could afford it (out my income bracket). Also I toured Vanderbilt for the first time which is where my hotel was and it was a beautiful campus. The campus area didn't seem overrun with angry blue-haired liberals which was a plus. Nashville got some really cool neighborhoods (Germantown was my fave). Nashville is a beautiful city with a lot to offer ... especially great live music ... even my hotel lobby had great live music every night.

I think he's comparing 2010 and post Katrina. That said I remember hearing the same stats when I was in New Orleans.
It's beyond a tragedy of where New Orleans is today, but it is the product of decades of piss poor leadership and terrible voting. If the weather/Miss River/ORCS doesn't really knock out New Orleans first its populace will do it instead by refusing to address crime and continue electing morons into office because their "leaders" told them how to vote.

You’re not wrong about any of this, but the same things can be said about most of the large cities in the US. For all its problems, New Orleans has a surprising amount going for it compared to many other once great American cities.

Since Katrina I feel like the best span in New Orleans was around 2008-2014. Just a positive and optimistic attitude and vibe in the city.
