I live in a very nice middle-class, swim and tennis neighborhood. Kid graduated an expensive private high school and quit USCe after one semester. He told his mom all everyone did there was drink and that wasn’t for him. Moved home and got a job at a pet store.

I just watched him get carried down the stairs of his house in a sheet by police and paramedics and put on a stretcher. As I was watching this I didn’t know if he was dead or alive. Seems like it was a very close call but he was alive when he was put in the ambulance.

There were plenty of signs. The power of denial, especially with parents about their children, is strong.

Sounds like they hopefully got him in time and gave him Narcan to try to stop/reverse the effects

Prayers!

My best friends family member recently passed away from OD, he was in his car alone so no one could help

It seems they got there in time. When I was walking to dog a couple months ago I found a cellophane bag on their curb. Couldn’t tell what used to be in it.

I’m still relatively young and had my fun so I questioned whether or not I should rat. I decided to tell his mom. A day or two later she dismissed it. That it wasn’t his... as opposed to he has no idea what she was talking about.

4 teenagers/young adults have died just this year alone from my upper middle class area. I like smoking pot just as much as the next guy. But. This is nuts. Drugs are taking over society.

Forgot to mention they are all from fentanyl or Xanax

Happens a lot when people buy drugs from people and they are laced with unknown amounts of other substances.

Its getting out of hand these days

Legalize pot and quit making people go underground to get it where they’ll be introduced to all sorts of other things. Not a cure all but definitely a cure some.

I don’t smoke but I’m for legalizing weed but that has nothing to do with this. Legalizing weed will have zero effect on the opioid epidemic.

Glad I'm allergic to opioids.

If I took them like I took benzodiazepines, I'd have been casket meat long ago.

You could do that but I dont think that gets to the heart of the issue of what makes people do drugs.

In fact, most experts say marijuana is bad for you up to 25 years of age.

Marijuana still doesn't make opioids less addictive.

Sure it will. People want to get high, give them a legal way to do so and many will choose that.

He had a couple of surgeries related to a wrestling injury his senior year. I assume that was the genesis. Or maybe he just partied too hard at college. Don’t know.

I say we get rid of all legal opiates. Probably won’t be a popular opinion

The opioid stories very, very rarely have even a remotely happy ending.

Drugs rob a person of all that they are or ever will be.

Like welfare, just makes a person into a slave.

Sorry to hear about another statistic.

My own family has been and will be hit again...of this, I have no doubt.
