I think the pineapple is some sort of symbol for welcome if upright, wait til they turn the mat upside down before you make your move

A friend has concrete pineapples on top of his block pool wall. He told me pineapples are known as the "Welcome Fruit".

On a tour of the Plantations I was told A pineapple would be place in the bedroom of a guest meaning Welcome. They went on to say that if you found one in your room during the visit it meant you were over staying your welcome and time to go. Not sure of the 2nd part is true.

I went to an LSU alumni association football watch party once, the whole Alumni Association was there. There was a pineapple decoration outside, looked like the kind a realtor gives as a gift. Anyway, I remember the neighbors looking at us all scared as we walked in...I see why now.
