Under no means entertain shopping at Honda Covington. Buyer beware.

Southern Hotel in downtown Covington is great.
Walking to Mattina Bella for breakfast or brunch/lunch is great and highly rated.
Some quaint places to visit/browse/shop, including the place behind M B. The art supply store is very impressive, whether you're into art or not.
Great weekend dinner/live music restaurant choices still right near hotel.
You could stay in Covington on foot all weekend...the Reagan statue, Acquistipace grocery, so many good eats...Cafe Rani, New Orleans Wine & Spirits, etc, etc...and the great ice cream place where you watch your huge cone being made!
The lakefront in Mandeville is a nice drive, with good eateries and walking along the lake.
Liz's where yat dinner is a good breakfast/brunch/lunch place too.

Do you want people from the north shore or people that live there now to chime in?
Some of us were raised right, others are carpetbaggers.

Don’t forget Madisonville. Abita Roasting very nice setting / breakfast.
Covington:
New Orleans Food & Spirits dtown Covington. Everything on menu rocks. Is most consistent solid experience on Northshore.
DiChristina’s rocks.
Bears poboy (best on NS). Watch hours.
Tap room solid burger and adult bevs. Hussy or 2 at times. Penicillin worthy.
Covington Beer Garden by trailhead nice place.
Mandeville:
Old Mandeville, trailhead to lakefront are nice scenes, incl Girod St near lake, Pat’s Rest Awhile, Barley Oak.
Drive thru Fountainebleau State Park worth it
Ponchartrain Poboys - not just Poboys (watch their hours). Bears has place here too (watch their hours).
Ruby’s Roadhouse more salt of Earth (my scene) for live music.
Lots of small city relatively big wealth types doing their big wealth things (country club, fancy perfect life, trying to dodge Father Time). Lots of more ‘organic’ folks. Lots of people who look alike too (across the wealth strata).
I’d dip into Nola for live music and great food if the chance.

Downtown Covington around Southern Hotel, plenty of great restaurants around, Covington Beer Garden and the Tap Room can be pretty cool at night.
Barley Oak on the Mandeville lakefront is cool.

You’re welcome to visit but understand that we don’t need your money and we’re full so don’t get any crazy ideas.

Definitely go to downtown Covington, its only 15 minutes away. Good restaurants and a few good bars. The Food board can give you a full list for both places. For casual seafood New Orleans Food and Spirits in Covington is good. Tavi and The Dakota are really good.
