My wife and I enjoy a nice Friday night evening with just the two of us and we usually make a bunch of cocktails and hang out. We’ve been crushing some tequila mules this summer, she likes an aperol spritz and I love a classic 3-2-1 margarita.

We are trying find a new delicious but easy drink as we are kind of burned out on the mules and it is getting colder. Any of you other alcoholics have any good drinks you like to enjoy with your spouse?

A legit mai tai is one of my favorites.

4 parts fresh lime juice
3 parts orange curacao
1 part orgeat syrup
1 part simple syrup
4 parts dark rum
4 parts light rum (martinque rum is you feel fancy)

Shake with ice.

Boulevardier. Kind of a Negroni(also awesome) using rye or Bourbon. Campari gives a nice bitterness to offset the whiskey.

Trader Joe's has a spicy mango lemonade that is amazing with tequila. I make a trip there just for that and get 4 or 5 and freeze them. They are that good.

If you like tequila and have a good reposada do a paloma. This is how I make mine

2oz teq
1.5-2 oz of fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit
1.5-2 oz of fresh squeezed lime
1.5-2 oz of jarritos grapefruit soda(usually super one or any mexican tienda will have it)
pinch of salt
sometime I use a little squirt of simple syrup also

When it’s hot, a watermelon martini really hits the spot.

Put watermelon chunks in a colander over a large bowl. Use a glass or something to mash all the juice out of it. Discard pulp.

3:1 Watermelon juice to vodka over ice.

Enjoy!

I like Gold Rush, making the honey syrup isn’t bad to make and store

My go-to easy cocktail is a Sidecar

Cognac
Cointreau
Lemon juice

Lemon twist garnish with sugar on the rim (but neither necessary)
