Or maybe they are just lying because they are in high school

These kids have grown up in the internet/social media age. I wonder if they’re less forthcoming about their private lives because they’ve been raised to believe nothing is private.

It’s a shame they don’t know what it’s like to sneak a keg party at someone’s house cause the parents went out of town for the weekend.

With all the technology it's almost impossible to do these days. Ring doorbell cameras. Life 360. It's hard to sneak around. As the father of 3 teens, I appreciate the technology. And it makes me feel better. But I remember the good ole days

shite. You haven’t spent time w any 15 year old boys. It is the number 1 interest and the connections thru snap, insta, etc make it a non stop subject.

We took a break from it a few times a day. Not these cats

Probably because mom and dad are still drinking all the booze at every social event. Or having parties "for the kids," when it's nothing but an excuse for them to drink.

Bunch of 30 - 40 year old parents still trying to be 20. It's pathetic...and I think the kids see it as embarrassing, and want nothing to do with it.

THEY ALL VAPE.

Trust me.... 95% of kids below 21 are vaping their heads off. Some just hide it better than others.

But it doesn't surprise me since culture is all about MJ, and alcohol and tattoos. There will be a certain amount that is always counter culture regardless of what that is.

I think the number was a lot higher in the late 1970's-early 80's than indicated here, but maybe I just went to an uptight HS, IDK.....

This. Smartphones are the addiction, unregulated and perfectly legal.

I’ve noticed less and less desire to binge drink with the younger generation which I feel is a good thing. Hopefully drinking gets phased out like cigarettes did.
Yep. With my younger cousins in college and high school the blackout drunk nights and events they have is miniscule compared to what my generation had

None of my HS nieces/nephews drink or smoke. All straight edged.

In fact, they really seem to dislike the kids that drink. Its viewed as something losers do.

High schoolers aren’t socializing anymore.

But as someone else mentioned, the majority are on a cocktail of ADHD & anti-depressants.

Vaping is included. My nephew and most of his friends are like this. They just aren’t interested. They would rather be playing golf, fishing, etc. It’s different but in a good way.
A lot of them are rightfully scared to death of fentanyl.

Yep. My oldest turned 18 yesterday and is about halfway through boot camp. He would rather hunt and fish.

Using this standard so was I. For purposes of some "survey." We drank like fishes every weekend and often during the week if the chance arose. But I didn't tell my parents, teachers or surveys. Hell I denied it regularly when asked by adults. "No. We don't do that stuff."

Seems like a lot of them vape so not sure if that counted in the smoking question or not.

Yeah, specifically saying cigarettes is too specific here.

That sounds really great!

However, would you as kid admit to an adult that you did any of those things?
