I hate facebook but when it comes to an allegation as damaging as kiddie rape, I'm going to err on the side of due process and a court of law here.
And Facebook is also doing this because there's too much liability and risk when it comes to things like vigilantism.

What a fake news thread title. That story isn't NBC defending anything. They wrote a story on it, investigated leads, and Facebook shut down pages based on the inquiry.

These guys do great work. If there are any due process issues, that can get sorted out in court. For the most part, if nothing else, they act as a deterrent for these human pieces of trash that seem to be everywhere. NBC are dopes for trying to stop the white hat vigilantes.

All of this. NBC requested FB info after a death linked to this dude's outing on FB. That's legitimate.
FB suspended the account, which is their call and not NBC's fault. NBC didn't attack anyone, they tried to see what was posted leading to the incident that triggered their story.

I applaud their effort to stop predators from preying on underage kids, but they are vigilantes. That has liability written all over it. If you have evidence that someone is abusing or preying on a kid, turn it over to the police. They are better equipped to handle it.
