I'm not suggesting it should. Not sure how you got that from my post.
I'm saying it's a mental condition that needs treatment. Whatever we can do to promote treatment instead of keeping it hidden and acting on it should be considered.

Most people would agree that it is a form of mental illness- because it is. But I do believe there are those working towards it becoming more "acceptable". I think it is a crime. Period. And I think it would be a very tough sell to convince most people otherwise.
I don't know anyone who would trust their children around someone who has exhibited any hint of this disorder. That includes those who haven't actually carried out something on a child.
I also believe if there was a universal treatment for this available, it would be mandatory. But there are so many documented cases where predators tell authorities that they will not stop- because they can't control themselves.
Just my take.
