It's been over fifty years since the first moon landing, why haven't we built a moon base already?

If they went back to the moon they would design a new craft to do it not use the outdated tech/engineering from half a century ago

What supplies would you build a lunar base out of? Now start dividing those supplies into 96k pound lots, including your supplies and equipment, because that's the entire payload that went to translunar injection from the saturn v.
