"We're here to meet the Messiah!"
"Well, um, we kind of....you see there was this deal with the Sanhedrin and the Romans....it was a whole big thing. Have you ever seen a WalMart Supercenter? They've got everything!"

Those dumasses are gonna say they represent the entire earth and ultimately end up pissing off the aliens with their bullshite, causing a war of the worlds, fricking us once again.

quote:It's a statistical thing. We only became intelligent enough to be self-aware maybe a couple hundred thousand years ago. That's only about 0.0015% of the age of the universe (as far as we can tell). If the history of the universe were compressed into one year, humans became "smart" on Dec 31 at 11:52 PM. Right now is midnight, 8 minutes later. If we find another intelligent species out there, what are the chances that they became "smart" more recently than that?
Why do people always assume any other intelligent life out there would be more advanced than us?

The controlling “Mantid” alien bugs are really jealous of humankind’s Soul Mechanism. They also really hate our strong psychic energy we all radiate, unless we are plugged into the feedback loop of a video game.
In that case they don’t care as you’re basically a doped up idiot.
Anyways, we’ve been at “war” with these aliens through their thought-control for 5-6 thousand years.
As is quite apparent, they are fully in control of the US political machine by way of the democrats and the media.
Fight the power by being the product of your own intellect.
Best of luck in the continuing revolution.

It's not.
It's not remotely just as likely.

you give humans way too much credit. we have only known that the earth was NOT the center of the universe for 400 years.

I seem to recall Stephen Hawking comparing Earth potentially reaching out to an alien civilization as the Incas contacting the Spanish 500 years ago.
No bueno.
Hawking accomplished many things. He walked the tightrope between real theoretical physicist and public figure better than any scientist in any field has ever done.
That said, he was still retarded.

Somehow, I doubt that the theologians know what effects "contact" would have. Hell, the effects on the populous would depend on the alien's actions in the contact process. Fill our bellies, cure our ills, free us from the drudgery of work and lift our spirits, and we'll carve their image in a mountain and thank the Good Lord for sending them to help.
As much as can be infinitely perceived and imagined, IS The Source. The ultimate 'end' of the continued evolutionary process for ascending life forms would result in total unity, by degree, with the Source. Unity being Love. Assuming that the evolutionary process continues infinitely so, it would end up 'creating' God; or rather affirming in the 'minds' of perceiving entities that which always has been. Aliens would know this.
Aliens come from the same Source as all does. There is no alternative option as there is only One Source. There can be 'sub-sources', but they are derivative of The Source. The fact that their relative degree of knowledge and power dwarfs ours, only holds them to a higher standard of Love, assuming they embrace all of Creation as One, and validate the Spiritual Axioms therein. Of course, we love, and we farm and consume 'lower' life forms with little concern for their feelings...so.
The fact that how limited entities/lifeforms are born of or to this Source, is irrelevant as to any challenge re whether The Source is Self-Aware and Loving. That is the ultimate and relevant question. And one that is likely answered by the subjective affirmation of particular perceptive entities. Perception and choice become Reality; 'reaping what we sew'. Fair enough.
Bottom line: we'd better hope the aliens are a loving lot. If they love and respect us as much as my wife does her dogs, we've hit the jackpot. Finally!

You say that like splitting the atom is a big deal in the grand scheme of things. We don't even know what's in our own oceans but you think we're unraveling the mechanics of a vastness we can't begin to comprehend? Humans are both incredibly arrogant and incredibly ignorant

It was on one of the science fiction television shows (expanse maybe?) but they had a sect that followed Christianity but that God had spread life to multiple planets. I’d imagine something like that would arise.

There's gotta be other life out there and if you ask me they were created by our God, the one God.
I agree... For in fact, the very first verse in the bible says the very same thing.
Genesis 1:1...In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
If you even notice it evens says the heavens were created first.
One thing that fascinates me is storms... and by that I mean, the great red spot on Jupiter is a storm. With lightening... Seems lighteninxg is all over the universe.
Scientists suspect millions of year ago lightening struck the primordial pools on earth, which created the amino acids which became the building blocks of life...
I'll let all that sink in.

The Great Delusion is getting closer. There will be contact, but it won’t be aliens as we think of them

Don't know what the Fermi paradox is so can't argue that point, however, there are people within 10 miles of you that you've never seen once in your lifetime. Now compare that to the vastness of space. They could be there and we not see them. Not even factoring technology they have we don't
