They've proposed new taxes every month since she's been in office

Baton Rouge has some of the highest sales tax in the nation. Not exaggerating, look it up.
How anybody can trust the BR government to handle more of their money is beside me.

I thought the gas tax to fund some of this was reasonable. I'd rather see that than a sales tax

Gas tax money goes to the state not local

Some of the roads on the list are state roads

Right now they are but will soon be transferred over to local government

Great
Nowhere in there do I see funding to fix that abomination of flat surface between O'Neal LN and Sherwood Forest Blvd called Interstate 12. (I-12)

Exactly. BR residents pay high taxes but get little to nothing to show for it. I know that since this is a sales tax, everyone will pay it. That said, she will attempt to raise property taxes at some point. It’s inevitable.

I already saw work being done on that part of the interstate a couple of nights ago.

We currently pay a half cent for roads as part of GL1. We don't need to pay another half cent for GL2.
I'd also like an accounting of GL1 so I could understsndcwhy we ran short of funds to complete it all.
We passed a hotel tax and gave half or more to VBR. That could have gone crazy to roads. COA tax could go to roads.
BREC and The Library Board are flush with cash. That's money that should go to roads.
Reality is we pay enough taxes, the taxes aren't wisely spent.

A lot of the problems are already baked in at this point with the biggest one being that stupidity with regard to the school system caused major migrations to the eastern part of the parish plus Livingston and Ascension.
Hence, 10, 12, and 61 are taxes to capacity from people coming in via those routes.
Attempts to reroute traffic with “road diets” on Government and other major arteries will likely be wastes of money at best or create new problems with traffic routed through residential neighborhoods at worst.
Look up all the bitching in places like Los Angeles over people using apps like Waze to avoid traffic, resulting in new paths through areas not intended for that purpose.
The best long term fix for BR traffic is people moving back from the suburbs to the city but city policies are causing the exodus to speed up instead.

Yep, a balanced approach like businesses are forced to do. Raise revenue and cut failing business lines.

At least it’s not a property tax.
Now even her base has to contribute. We could probably repave Highland just on the sales of blunt wraps alone.

Yeah, I wouldn’t tell her that. She might tell you to whip them out.
