You have an awesome story which is why I asked you details about your life. I am trying to find common ground and other than you being younger than my oldest daughter; we actually have a lot of common ground. I am trying to get past this juvenile debate over which generation is better or worse or has it better or worse than previous or current generations.
You see, I dealt with issues regarding the economy, global conflicts, poor job markets, yada, yada.
I just considered that a part of life.
You have an awesome story which is something to be proud of. I wish you and yours well.
I spent my career performing asbestos/lead/mold/hazardous chemicals construction administration on commercial/government construction projects as well as pre-construction survey and design.
Just trying to move past insults. I can go either way. I’m happy you are set and not just complaining because life hasn’t worked out for you.

I agree he does have a wonderful story. I grew up in a trailer until 3rd grade.
As I replied to him; I bet he and I have more in common than he thinks.

Do you get unemployment if you haven't had a job yet?

None of this is new. The next generation will blame Millennials for everything wrong in the world.
They are already switching up the narrative. It's not different generations fault, but The White Man's... You need to get caught up on wokism sir.
I really don't know where we went wrong actually. ANd I skipped school on the day they taught economy, but I feel that things went wrong when Store like Wal Mart started popping up. Resturants like Chili's and McDonalds started popping up, because we lost all the mom and pop local places.
And somehow rents got so high that a person could not move in and open up.
in 1901, you could open a resturant in a small town by just opening the doors of a building.
Today, we would need a Sales tax permit, County permit. Health inspection, Handicap runways and bathrooms, 4 compartment stainless steel sink, Liability Insurance, Liquor Insuranse, Licqour licesnse, etc, etc, etc... Pilled on garbage due to legislators making life better for us all.
You know, like automated business answering services.

Lots of truth in that meme, unfortunately.
Unemployment rate is now 5.6%, compared to 3.6 in 2019, pre-Covid.
Per New York Fed,WSJ.
Dumb Boomers, inventing AI

"My failures" lol ... I'm killing it.

Boomers are the worst generation and it's not close. They inherited a paradisiacal country where a nuclear family in a safe middle class wasn't just popular, it was so common it was boring.
You presuppose to know things you don't know, exactly as did the poster who made assumptions about your situation, which you rightly took umbrage to. You seem thoughtful. It's amazing you'd not hit the pause button, step back, and reassess.

Boomers get so defensive online. Don’t worry about what people say about you online boomers. What you need to worry about is the fact you are going to have to stand before the Lord some day. And that day is getting closer and closer with each passing year.

If you break it down by gender, college graduate males and high school only graduate males have UE rates that have equalized, which is a new occurrence.

Not really...
Boomer-hate is a small, but vocal, minority opinion held but people who are uneducated in both economics and history. They are also overwhelmingly Democrats.
It is what is. (Shrugs)
Absolutely is the case.

So... Does anyone know if Dairy Queen has a senior / Boomer discount?
I'll be going there in a bit.

You say this like it's a bad thing.

Anyway, there are a lot of ridiculous, even hateful assertions being tossed around here. Too much talking past one another. That is where we are as a country though. Far too often, rational discussion/debate takes a backseat. But there are some thoughtful posts as well, yours on student loans, being an example.
