You ignored a pretty key point of the post you selectively quoted.
But you knew that already.

40% of boomers have zero savings.
50% have less than $250,000 in retirement.
So, no, they did not mostly work hard, save, and retire with enough to support themselves.
That is another reason that generation is looked at negatively.
They constantly critique and insult, while being broke and demanding their children and grandchildren suffer for them, rather than suffering for their offspring.
They were “gifted” the peak American economy, proceeded to frick it up politically for their offspring, constantly shite on their offspring, and then proceeded to demand that their offspring support them.
100% this, all of this
also as mentioned, they shite on every generation after them
and the biggest reason is because they drove our country in to debt and gave us shite politicians and refuse to give up power.

None of this is new. The next generation will blame Millennials for everything wrong in the world.

Prime example of how the game has changed. This was so common as to be taken for granted during the Boomers' upbringing. It's so unusual in Millenial world that it becomes an exceptional anecdote.

40% of yall spent it all living a decadent life of limitless consumerism.
So 60% of us didn’t. Don’t lump all Boomers into one category. Only about 20% of us were hippies (probably less). My kids all graduated college debt free and will inherit a significant amount from me. In fact millennials will inherit the greatest wealth transfer in history.

This is the effect of boomer leadership for the past 30 years.
In fairness, many of the leaders who set this in motion were not Boomers. They were born before the Boomers.

Don't forget about the rape and pillaging of natural resources! All the stories of not counting the number of fish caught that day, but the number of ice chests that were filled....returning 6-8 man limits of ducks to the camp by 7:30 am only to go back out and kill more...its ok though, I would've done the same thing with a ice cold schlitz in my hand

He's talking about the part that he quoted where the poster's parents got married right out of high school and the Dad was able to obtain a job without a college degree that provided a living wage and the ability to save money while raising a family.
quote:
He married my mom when they were 18 and 19, worked low paying jobs while mom stayed home, eventually became a policeman working extra jobs my entire childhood to support us, saved as much as he could by almost exclusively investing in CD’s, and my parents are comfortable financially in their 80’s still holding onto conservative CD investments without the advantage of market growth.

Do you not see the problem here? Your story is "My dad worked as a policeman and my mom was a homemaker. We lived in a safe neighborhood and weren't rich, but we were comfortable." Do you think that's possible in 2026?
Let me add that we had one car (a 1960’s Volkswagen Beatle), rarely used the AC, and rarely ate at a restaurant, etc. The definition of comfortable was different.

Boomers' parents were The Greatest Generation, whereas boomers at The Luckiest Generation.
Came along when the rest of the world was either rebuilding from World War II or third world still living in huts and shacks, while American production and output were through the roof.
It's not boomers fault that they're lucky, but they need to realize and be grateful for how lucky they are

You should actually look into the “great wealth transfer”.
It is played up by the media so you boomers can pat yourselves on the back.
Only ~22% of boomers plan to leave any money to their children.
Forbes wrote an article last year with this exact title:
Baby Boomers Embrace 'Die With Zero,' Passing On Less Money To Their Kids

Just for shits and giggles, I ran a $56,000 salary (which seems reasonable for a police officer) through a mortgage calculator, in Baton Rouge, with no monthly debt and a $10,000 down payment. You can get a $200,000 house with those parameters. Meaning, you can live in a total ghetto
ETA and you better hope the car is paid off and you have no medical bills pop up. Because that quickly cuts into the affordability of the house, dropping you to $180,000 if you owe even $200/month for something else.
