Which is when your foot slides forward/backward in the shoe and causes your toenail to turn purple from blood underneath...

A simple remedy is to numb the toe with ice and take a pin/paper clip and heat it over flame until it’s red hot and then pierce the nail, carefully, until you can purge the pressure and blood underneath the nail...

My SO is a HUGE fricking baby about all of it and is content to live in agony and pain because she’s so scared of the idea of piercing/purging her nail...

How do I get over MYfrustration of her being such a pussy about it, knowing without a doubt, that it will relieve her pain/discomfort and she also won’t lose the toenail?

I’m basically just upset that she won’t even entertain the idea of the quick procedure to ultimately help her after a very minimal amount of pain...

She’s like a little kid with a loose tooth that’s hanging by a thread and refuses to just pull it out and be done with it.

Save the “pics” responses, you won’t get any.

I’m at the point of “Just shut up your bitching and let me help you!”

She should have a doctor do it. Otherwise risk a MRSA infection and then will be in a ton of pain.

MRSA infection
How would this be different than any other skin abrasion/cut? As long as you disinfect the needle and keep it covered afterwards, it should be just fine... no?

Such as? And how would that relieve the pressure under the nail?

I actually have a tiny bit and offered to just spin it by hand into/through the nail... and the idea of “drilling through her nail” was even worse than the red hot pin

The old black toenail has happened to me several times from backpacking. Like you said, it is your toe slamming into the toebox of your shoe over and over as your foot slides back and forth. It does hurt. She needs to get better fitting shoes, maybe inserts, and use lacing techniques to anchor her foot down better.

To treat, I have pierced the nail like you described. I have also inserted a needle (after soaking it in alcohol) under the toenail and squeezed it to drain. It helps, but your toenail will still be screwed up.

I lost the nail every time. The nail just "dies" and the I peeled it off after a couple of weeks. It's no picnic. Takes several months to grow back.

Don't take this as advice, as I am a goofball. She should go to a doctor if it is bad.

Ditch the whiny broad and find someone with brains who runs with shoes that fit and doesn't refuse to help themselves. She sounds terrible.
