Sitting here, the numbers just popped into my head. So I google the numbers and an accident report pops up and ten years after he sold it the guy crashed and killed himself and 3 other people. A Cessna 172. Crazy, huh? It kind of freaks me out to be honest.

CSB, I know . I have more cool stories but this is the only one that features tragic air fatalities.

Kind of a cool story. I'd prefer seeing pics of the wife to be honest.

that's a pretty safe plane. Only thing i can think of is control cable failure that wouldn't allow a pilot to glide in for a safe landing.

I sold a friend of mine a skateboard when I was around 12. The very next day he was tring to do some tricks and skinned his knee. It wasn't anything serious thank goodness.

That's creepy. Gives credence to the saying "Things happen for a reason". Glad it wasn't your Dad.

What if the NTSB report showed lack of proper maintenance history caused mechanical failure?

You better send the family attorney a gift basket this Christmas.

It's funny to me that people reach the pinticle of their life and purchase an airplane only to die a couple of years later in a firery crash.

Nope. My Pops had a rather towering technical intellect. I observed how dead seriously he took safety and aviation, analyzed my own casual clumsy ways and said, "I better stay away from that". lol.

I did grow up in planes though, because of him.

Yeah, I washed planes for pocket money at Ryan field as a teen. We were always flying somewhere. And for those down-voting, owning a Cessna in the 1970's was not a sign of aristocracy. They were like 20 grand.
