My kid at LSU actually evacuated to our house in NO. What are other LSU students doing?

I have a generator and it looks like BR could get it worse.

Baton Rouge getting Cat 1 winds instead of our normal TS force winds will cause some damage. New Orleans might be under water.

People spend way too much time looking at the stupid "cone" maps.

My brother went and got his freshman last night, which I thought was excessive but I guess mama wanted it. Those dorms could withstand a nuclear blast and LSU has its own power station . BR may have a rough couple of weeks but the campus will be back up and running in a day or two.

New Orleans will get more rain over a 24 hour period than its seen in decades. Good luck.

Well I know why your kid went to lsu. It’s rarely advisable to head south to avoid a hurricane unless you live somewhere like Tampa

Mine on way home today.

Others are gonna party. Back in time, I would have considered that.

Then, father time / experience says the tornados (Hurricane Andrew vivid memories) and no power make the hangovers forgettable.

Mine came home. I told her she would prob be safer in her dorm since it is cinderblock walls. I imagine she will go back after the storm since they will have electricity and we won’t.

The winds will be worse in Baton Rouge.

Rain will probably be equally bad.

Power will be out everywhere.

If I was a student at LSU and my folks lived in New Orleans, I’d go home for this one.

I know this will be worse than Gustav but in 2008, LSU was the place to be during a hurricane. Dorms are rock solid. PMAC is a triage center so the power grid is robust. Great place to make life long friends.

That is dumb.

Heading in to New Orleans during a hurricane is about as dumb an act as possible.

LSU is probably one of the best places to be.

Nah, let’s go sit in a bowl that can’t drain and leave the place that has its own power station.
