My girlfriend lives in a townhome neighborhood on the north side of ATL. Nice neighborhood, but her driveway only has space for one car. Therefore, it is necessary for me to park in the neighborhood's guest parking lot whenever I come over, which is obviously quite often.

A week ago, I received a notice posted on my car window warning me that I was parked illegally. Since the lot is clearly labeled "guest parking" this was inconceivable, so I just threw it away and disregarded it. 4 days later, same notice, with a note saying "2nd warning - next time tow."

My GF sends a note to the HoA lady asking why this is happening and receives the following reply:

quote:

Ms. VolsOut4Harambe's GF,

It has been reported that you, a member of your household are a visiting guest is continually parking a blue Honda in guest parking.

As a reminder, guest parking is be restricted to visiting guest exclusively and cannot be utilized by Owners or occupants of the unit. Visiting guest are only permitted to used the guest parking space a maximum of 2 consecutive days weekly. Please note the vehicle has been towed on 2 occasion and will be towed on the next instince of non-complaince.

This is obviously a load of crap since I'm a guest and I come over maybe 3 times per week including weekends at the max, and I never leave my car in a spot for more than 30 hours or so. So she tries to reason with this lady, stating that I'm a guest and whatnot, and receives the following reply:

quote:

Please understand, the blue honda cannot be parked in guest parking at any time.

Shaunta

So now I basically can't come over without worrying about my car possibly being hauled away. Does this HOA lady have the power to do this? It seems like she herself is the one "reporting" me. I'm not sure how it works with these HOA's and their rules.

TLDR: HOA bitch keeps threatening to tow my car, not sure how to fight it since I'm clearly not violating the rules.

document what she said, have a lawyer friend create a nice letter, make it look really official, and threaten them back.

If it says, no more than 2 consecutive days, then you have every right to stay 30 hours. Also, one of her neighbors is a serious d-bag, and doesn't like you.

Park in the guest parking lot night one with your vehicle. Night two, park in her driveway and have her park her car in the guest parking lot. Rinse and repeat.

ETA: Oh yea, I just skimmed and completely missed this "by Owners or occupants of the unit."

Guess you're either gonna have to buy a luxury car, have your girlfriend move, Uber, or stagger your visits.

Your GF is doing this as a hint to tell you that she wants you to move in with her. Run.

How can it only have parking for one vehicle. Do they not expect married couples to live in the neighborhood?
