tunnels in NO are good repositories for junked cars, washing machines and broken lawn chairs

I haven't seen what it is actually going to consist of

It says 1 mile.

Not to mention the multitude of cities around the world that have figured out how to tunnel in shitty, wet soil. Amsterdam, DC, Singapore, Boston, etc. It has it's challenges, but it can be done.

Yeah I see that. They are picking different things that might be challenging. And they clearly say that it won't be built if it proves that its not feasible, which may be the case here.
I am just curious where this tunnel would go. I can't fathom it

It'll never be ready in time

Boring is using essentially autonomous tunnelers that work at a much faster speed than traditional systems, but at smaller diameter tunnels. So they are starting to test them in different types of soils and environments

Teedy wanted this from City Hall to the city's Pontalba Apartment.
Vappie already bored her tunnel

If they wanted a challenge, they should have bored a tunnel under the MS River in Baton Rouge. If ever there were a need for a loop, it’s there.

There's a big tunnel under Harrah's Casino
There is also a tunnel around the airport (i believe next to one of the runways).

So, I guess this is Musk announcing his candidacy for president….nothing in this world is free…
Posted on 3/24/26 at 10:29 am to Fun Bunch
There’s no way this is feasible in NOLA

Off the top of my head a tunnel from the end of Earhardt expressway in New Orleans to the dome/ Poydras may help bypassing Carrollton/ Washington ave/ canal and railroad tracks/ interstate. It may be a bit more than a mile but close.

I'd like to see how they get around all of the piling. You don't even build a house in Nola without piling under it.

It'll help to funnel the YT's into a centralized area to be carjacked.

These are not tunnels that are open to whoever wants to drive through them. I assume these will be the same as what they've already done in vegas. Essentially, the tunnel is a one-way loop that is wide enough/big enough to fit a single tesla going in one direction. Only the teslas can use the tunnel. People can then pay for a tesla uber to get from one "station" to another. They will likely pick a few places to have pickup/drop-off stations (superdome, harrahs, convention center, etc.).
Here's a video of the vegas loop. Youtube

Build it to bypass NOLA East - should prevent some stray bullet murders

I have some supreme doubt it ever happens once Musk has to start dealing with LA/NOLA politicians and red tape
Well, you know for sure one thing about Elon's tunnel

No offense, but this is a dumb comment. It is very common for tunnels traverse under.... water.
