Uptown elite don't have LSU ties. Look forward to Washington & Lee LAX and Tulane tailgates.

Because maybe if more young people like me can start moving there and rejuvinate the city it may end up not being such a shithole anymore?

Then you haven't been in New Orleans very long

It's already happening, bud. New Orleans is nothing like what the people who don't live there paint it to be.
Welcome to the city! I'm a gentrifier and am still alive.

I lived near there when I moved down here. Hated it. Just wasn't my cup of tea. I know people, maybe even you, like all the history and culture but it just sucks if you ask me.
Crowded, no parking, infrastructure is crumbling, urban blight, dirty, and the crime is beyond horrible, even in that area. There are burglaries, armed robberies, rapes, and yes even murders in that area.
I'll catch all kind of shite for saying this but I moved to Metairie and am looking forward to the day when I can move even further.
I'd say it's a nice place to visit and a shitty place to live, but even then I'd be lying. It sucks dick all around, and has for a long time.

This is exactly one of the downfalls that is plaguing the city at the moment.
These young liberals from up north(Chicago, New York, Michigan, etc. etc.) moving here at and alarming rate and trying to change the area into one of their soulless generic cities.

Well you're wrong about why I'm moving here. While I make no bones about the fact that I am a liberal. I'm not here to erode the culture of New Orleans to fit my own comforts or the delicate sensibilities of others. I was very disheartened at the removal of the monuments not because I even agree with what they stand for but they're simply marvels of the past that are almost all older than most living people. I'm certainly not here to project my will upon the city, but more so let the city influence me.

Key thing to know is the area you live in changes by block. You can go from safe uptown yuppies to poor black thugs looking to get over on you. Don't listen to people that say you will be safe. Everyone is safe until they get Car jacked, mugged, or injured.
