Truly the only reason I’ve stayed. But Flathead winters are starting to wear on me so in the next couple years I’m looking to move. Helena and Bozeman have much better weather than the Flathead, more sunshine, and Spring comes sooner than where I am.

With that said, our summers are unbeatable compared to the rest of the state.

shite even Tampa/St Pete...

I don't know about Tampa prices but St. Pete seems out of the zone for a middle class family.

My reason would be the proximity to Big Sky and Bridger Bowl .

Affordable housing in Bozeman probably still starts in the low $400Ks.

Yep. “Affordable” housing is based on market rate.

In my county, the median home price is $662,000.

I made the same choice a few years back (from BR), so I guess I should say congrats. Best decision I’ve ever made and hopefully it will be for you as well.

frick that. I can't handle the twenty cold days a year we get here. I would off myself if I had to live in Montana.

But they are building so much affordable housing so fast the market can't keep up. There is so much land here that they can build out and dont have to build on top of each other.

RIP Montana.

There's a lot of real estate available between New Orleans and Montana, and it's real fricking cold up there

During the winter it’s probably 40 and sunny, during the day, with dry conditions. It feels a lot warmer than it is. The spring, summer and fall are heavenly. In short, the weather is better than New Orleans. No BLM, no Antifa, low crime (not many democrats), beautiful country with great outdoor living, all-in-all a great place to live.

General area of Bozeman. Not in Bozeman. See my post about the Mennonite town I would buy.

My ideal scenario would be to have a 2nd home in somewhere like Tahoe / Montana / idaho where I could spend summers and then winters down here.

I don’t think living in one place is ideal, but with kids and shite it’s not really feasible.

Not sure where you get your information from, but it’s not at all like what you described.

Yep.. i used to think nothing was worse than the heat and humidity 8 months a year in Louisiana .. now ive lived in TN for a few years; the winters have been overall miserably cold, and ive seen more snow than i had ever seen in my life- last week we had over a year’s worth of snow (annual average ) in one day.. then we got more.. waking up to 18 degrees or lower every day for weeks on end gets old quick.

Now my way of thinking is that anywhere worth living is gonna cost you .. so id be far more likely to look at places in Florida than in Montana.. both expensive, but at least the winters are bearable in FL, and you can always take road trips to National Parks, and /or work remotely in July & August when the heat’s at it’s worst.

This has got to be the most OT relocation imaginable. Congratulations! NOLA to Montana. Wow. Your social currency here is through the roof.

You'd need to be an Osmond to afford to live in Provo or Ogden.

I fly fished in the Gallatin a few years ago. Looked exactly like in the movie.
