Could've just moved to [REDACTED], avoided state income tax, had good schools, 4 seasons, and been closer to home with excellent outdoor stuff as well.

Don't tell people this.

Almost any mid sized city or smaller city. Lincoln, Huntsville, Grand Rapids...shite even Tampa/St Pete...

I can't speak for Lincoln and Grand Rapids but decent parts of Huntsville and Tampa Bay are expensive now.

Anything that is 4x the annual salary of the median white collar college graduate job is expensive, imo.

It's wild that we're calling $400k for very basic homes on small lots affordable.

And 20 years ago people used to tell you not to spend more than 2.5x your gross income on a home.

Times change, prices go up.

My grandparents paid $30k for a 3 bedroom house, and the thought of paying $50k was outrageous to them .

Look up the real estate listings in Bozeman. My goodness. Have to be a damn millionaire to live there.

I mean, I know everyone here is already one including myself, but this is shocking for less fortunate people who don’t post here.

Kalispell a few miles away has a pretty mild climate, less snow.

Our valley also sees on average the least amount of sunny days in the lower 48.

Sure, mild weather. But when it’s gray, cold, and a foot of snow on the ground for half the year you’ll go crazy.

I couldn't afford it or wouldn't be willing to pay those prices either way.

Nola had a lot more than 52 murders in 2021.

Nola hasn’t been at 52 or less since 1961. LBJ and Great Society hit, murders spiked and we haven’t looked back since.

Pretty sure Montana has no state tax as well.

This is correct. However, a few cities have a “resort tax” of 1-3%.
