You guys are idiots, they have been making huge comeback. After Katrina, there was a cougar caught on dozens of cameras all over Bay St. Louis.

I saw a huge one in 80s on Natchez Trace in Tennessee

A guy killed one in Troup County , Ga about 12 years ago. Got in all kinds of trouble over it because it was a protected Florida panther that had traveled up the Chattahoochee River.

How would you know? You weren't there and have no idea what I saw, 'cause I'm equally sure there were no dickheads in the car with me that morning.

I think there are some in Alabama, and I think I saw one crossing the road in front of me late at night, in the Talladega National forest.

It's not debatable. They are here, just not a ton, yet. It's a perfect environment for any apex predator. Tons if vegetation which means tons of life to feed on. Cover and brush to hide in. Tons of water everywhere. Etc.

Opossums are good for keeping ticks at bay. Need them MF'ers on the front line and not wiped out.

They are cute aren't they! And they taste really good baked with some gravy and sweet potatoes - maybe a little greasy, but not so much you can't spoon it off the top before you plate then up.

If true, I think this would be the first documented one in a long time.

The key word is "documented"
The Wildlife Resources agency, here in East Tennessee, swears there are no Cougars in the area.
One has been sighted in Seveir Co. with a tracking collar around its neck.
Bet if someone shoots it there will be an immediate uproar.

Well I definitely saw one a big one in East Tennessee in 84. We were going to a buddies house from Oxford and decided to take the Natchez trace, we passed two huge deer herds and literally stop the truck as this big dog walked across the road right as the sun was setting. As soon as it walked its shoulders popped up and we could see it was not a big dog but big cougar obviously hunting the deer. It’s was completely oblivious to us, couldn’t care less and walked in direction of the herds, barely even looking at us other than a “frick off” and get out out of hear glance. Snow was on the ground and it was one if the coolest animal sightings in my life.

I definitely saw one several years ago on Monteagle mountain in Sewanee.
It was quite majestic.

Florida panthers are all over the place two as well as the disputed black panthers per a Wildlife officer that hunted with us years ago. He said they thought they were a black jaguar s that came up from Mexico or a mix of black jaguars and panthers. People that live in the woods hear the “crying baby” cougar call all the time.

They are very people shy and very nocturnal
