They seceded first, they did not consider themselves apart of the country anymore. It was not unconstitutional.

We did a staff ride to Cowpens when I was in SCCC. Really interesting battle.

I’m suspect that if you had a bunch of white, black or Asian people living there who couldn’t join the military, vote, or participate in civic activity, they’d still be at the bottom of the list.

NPS has done a good job preserving the battlefield. Cowpens and Kings Mountain are both really interesting visits.
