3 of the top 10 most common last names in the US are Garcia (#6), Rodriguez (#9) and Martinez (#10).

1. Smith
2. Johnson
3. Williams
4. Brown
5.jones
7. Miller
8. Davis

Check out the website forebears and just start plugging in surnames (family, friends, etc.). Fascinating website. My paternal grandmother, for instance, has a maiden name ranked 120,149th most common in the world.

It is believed to be a German name that might have gotten changed when immigration to the Netherlands occurs, and the website clearly shows a prevalence of the name there. Pretty neat.

There are 3,638 people in the US with the surname, and 139 in the Netherlands (country that has the second most with the name).
