I’d imagine these are the top last names for both whites and blacks in America.
Most black surnames in the US came from their ancestors plantation owners
In the ms delta you’ll see many blacks whose families have been here since the 1800s have the same last names as the generational farmers in the area.
I know some blacks with Italian last names
My fiancées family are 5th generation farmers and my catfish farm is next to their land. 3 of my 6 employees who are from here have the same last name as her. It’s weird but also kinda interesting

What is the most common Cajun last name in Louisiana?
Hebert or Landry
My bias had me leaning Leblanc. I'm not gonna say you were right because that would be setting a bad precedence.

Mine ranks within 300 of your grandma's in commonality.

Can’t believe Guidry isn’t listed. Seems I run into a ton of south Louisiana folk with that name

All those last names suck. It’s nice to have a last night that basically nobody else has

Yeah my last name is 138,000th most common. I'm actually a little surprised there are 2400 people in the US with it.

Speaking of, I know of no white person with the last name of Jefferson or Washington. It's like their white ancestry just disappeared.

My last name is in the 2,800s for commonality worldwide. Mom's maiden name is at almost 50,000th.
