I'm with you 100% I live in Bridgeland in Cypress. Prior to that we lived in Copperfield and 2 neighbors were teachers. They had a large number of Louisiana kids come into the area over the years as families have been leaving Louisiana in large numbers the past decade. Often said many of the students required tutors regardless from private or public. Some of the private school kids may need 1-2 tutors in subjects for 6 months to get caught up.
I have simply given up trying to explain the schools in the burbs of Houston are better than many of the schools in Louisiana. New schools are being built all the time. Try to calm the fears on here that shiny new steel beams being erected for a new school is progress in improving education and not to be alarmed.
From what I gather the schools don't keep track of the state the students were from and how many tutors needed and for how long. I would like to see that data though.

Well we didn’t have to do all that.
From our experience, math was the large deficiency, and it was the utilization of math for solving problems. Not just “what is 1/3 of 1/6”, but more on why are you multiplying those fractions. TX school math seems to involve more word problems and critical thinking.
Fortunately, math was always my strong point, so I just spent time working with them on it. Still do, and they’re doing great. My high schooler will be stronger in that subject and all others than I was when I graduated.

There seem to be lots of plans for Third Ward/UH area up to Midtown but I’ll believe it when I see it. Third Ward is Third Ward and the homeless population in Midtown by downtown/bus station is absurd. It’s like Hamsterdam in The Wire

I am doing my best to gentrify East Downtown. Some condos/townhomes have been going up between Emancipation and 288/59. But it'll be a while before it gets anywhere near TSU or Yates HS.
