"lights out schools,"
biggest lie in Texas. There's no such thing as lights out government schools. Yes, some are good schools but not as good as a private - parochial school. Learning to "the test" is not an education.

My daughters who went to private school in Louisiana had to catch up when we moved to Sugar Land and put them in the government schools. I went to private school for 12 years, and my girls are going to be better prepared for college than I ever was.
Not saying Texas is some ultimate paradise, and there’s lots South Louisiana has that Houston doesn’t, but the economy, tax structure and schools have been better for us.

Then why do you post on a Louisiana message board?
Did you have to move to Louisiana just to go to college?

Shouldn’t you be enjoying all the wonderful things Texas has to offer.
He’d go enjoy the great public schools but he’s not allowed within 500 feet of them

Public or private, academic achievement is overwhelmingly determined by the demographic of the students, and the demographic of the students in a wealthy Texas ISD is not much different than that of a Louisiana upper tier private school.
For that matter you could say the same about Zachary, Mandeville, etc. vs Catholic/Jesuit. Ain't nothing special about a private school except the parents value education. You get that in a good public school district too.

You want to put Debakey High School or even Clements High School to the test?

I know you're trolling, but I lived 26 years there.

What? I listed the time it takes to get to the closest major city in each direction.
Well you listed two cities people in Houston might find interesting to visit since they are different, and then added Dallas. If it was simply a directional thing, fair enough.
Honestly not a knock on your town. It's just too much of a smaller version of Houston to consider it a selling point.

The owners and all the best posters live in Texas. As do the servers (my Houston basement is the DR site, for example).
