Houston is a nice city, close to the gulf, great food scene, great beer scene, 3 major sports with decent to elite teams, 3 hours to Austin, 5 to NOLA, 3.5 to Dallas, etc.
It's not the GOAT city, but it's far from terrible.

What? I listed the time it takes to get to the closest major city in each direction. Obviously if you're going somewhere for fun, you'd pick Austin or New Orleans before Dallas. Unless you have family in Dallas.
