But the part many ran with in the article...

quote:

Biotech company Moderna has shared findings that its coronavirus vaccine offered trial participants immunity up to three months after the second jab.

That’s misleading.

immunity for...at least 3 months
(ETA: Sorry if this has already been mentioned.)

There was a long discussion about this on CNBC a week or so ago.

Three months is all they know for sure so far because the first humans to be administered the test vaccine were injected a little over three months ago.

They can't say immunity will last longer than three months until more time passes from when the vaccine was first administered.

Under less dire circumstances it takes years to get final approval to start administering a new vaccine. So the vaccine manufacturers have better information about the duration of immunity for the test subjects.

Hopefully the COVID test subjects will show sustained elevated antibodies for much longer than 3 months. Time will tell.

Yet, we're 9 months in, and they still haven't found a legit, verified case of reinfection. At least not one they can all agree on.

I think they have found at least 5 or 6 if not double worldwide (so still very small quantity) where initial infection and reinfection both have confirmed positive tests (not sure if any initial positive tests were using too high a cycle threshold & just picking up fragments of virus). I don’t think they have confirmed reinfections where patient had antibodies confirmed by a test before reinfection (or didn’t last time i checked). Not all will make a sufficient amount of antibodies after an exposure of any virus, Wuhan tries to mute that side of our immunity causing other side to over react, and some that will fight it off will do so more with T-cells.

There are also some studies already confirming out to 5 months of immunity. Just because antibody levels drop some doesn’t mean body can’t ramp up more if formed properly first time around and virus basically the same. Also we are still fine tuning and figuring out which are the best antibody tests which i think was one point of article below - that they have better info now than earlier studies.

Also the guy at link below is pushing his own work, but he is concerned about vaccines solely focused on the spike protein possibly not triggering a T-cell response which he feels will have longer immunity effect.

I watched an interview with Rita Wilson (Tom Hanks wife). She got covid in March and is part of a study that tests her antibodies every 2 weeks. After 8+ months of testing she said she still has antibodies but they are gradually decreasing.

They’re simply saying that at 3 months after injection, volunteers are still showing high levels of immunity.

It’s not saying it drops off at 3 months. We haven’t gotten that far yet.

Will this "vaccine" end up being like the flu shot?

Will need to get it once a year?

We don't know.

And why did put vaccine in quotations? Are you under the impression that it is something other than a vaccine?

What are we going to do when a much more deadly virus inevitably comes around in the future? As in one that has higher than 0.1% death rate? Hope I’m not around to see that.

because if it is a true vaccine it would not need to be taken every year.

Some people refer to the flu shot as a vaccine, but it isn't.

this is false

there is no criteria for a vaccine to only be a one time thing

what do people do when they get a cold or the flu and their immune systems are compromised because of a covid-19 vaccine?

It's antibody based. Shorter immunity than tcell based vaccine

Is there any evidence whatsoever that either of these vaccines compromises the immune system in regards to the other viruses?

You will never see a 100% effective vaccine.
