I find it hard to just blame his friends at this point. I could easily see one of his buddies walking to the exit with him as he was getting kicked out and saying “I’m gonna go back upstairs to let our dates know what’s going on, wait outside for a few minutes” then going back down 5 minutes later and he’s already wondered off.

Wasted 22 year olds. Who knows what happened. Jumping to conclusions to blame his friends is stupid and wrong.

there was a report on news nation last night that indicated that he might have googled a map to find his way back to the hotel, tempo by hilton, but mistakenly got results for another business with "tempo" in the name, which was in the direction he actually walked...sad

I know it is considered inappropriate to say, but drinking to excess in public is dangerous.

No it’s not. It happens thousands of times every night on Broadway in Nashville. The #1 danger they face is a massive hangover the next day. Falling off a bridge into a river isn’t even in the top 100 typical things publicly intoxicated people should worry about.

This dude was either drunk and massively unlucky, or drugged.

So you are telling me there is no danger involved in drinking to the extent that your instincts are greatly diminished in public?

Ok. Then bro

There’s no such thing as “no danger” in any circumstance. It can be dangerous to go to the gas station at 10 PM. Driving on the highway is dangerous. Getting drunk in public is not typically dangerous other than a crazy event like this. Maybe when you’re drunk in public you’re in danger of getting in a bar fight with a dude twice your size, spending $500 on a stripper, getting photographed with a chick who isn’t your wife… etc. But “dangerous” in this context… no. Getting publicly intoxicated is not dangerous like this.

Yep. Stuff like this happens way more often than people might think.

Not long ago, I randomly came across some show about the “smiley face killers”, which is a theory that dozens of young men whose bodies have been found in/around water in the Midwest are actually victims of a group of serial killers. The reality is there is no group of killers; almost all of those people drank too much, made bad choices and paid dire consequences.

I’m pretty convinced this is a real thing. In two of the cases I know people familiar with the victim. In both cases things don’t add up.

Bumping this.

Is anyone still keeping up with this case? Nashville police say no foul play, but the family is saying he was found in the river with no water in his lungs, no pants on, and his debit card in the trash.

How far of a fall is it? Is it possible he died on impact? That’s the only thing I can think of.

It seems you never know in these situations. The parents don't want to believe he was a dumbass, and the authorities don't want a murdered tourist, so who knows. Both parties have a bias. Each one is going to see what they want to see, and there may not be enough evidence to say which one is right.

That said, I had en employee's body pulled from the Cumberland River a few years back. Nashville ME ruled it a suicide, but there ain't no way this guy was alive when he went over the bridge (My own bias). I wouldn't put it past Metro to sweep shite under the rug the same way they sweep the spiked drinks on Broadway under the rug. LINK

They should know by now if the debit card was used.
I wonder if the impact of the fall could have killed him and caused his pants to come off?

I’m not sure, but good question. I’ve not seen that possibility mentioned on any of the local posts I’ve read.

Interesting take. Hmmm. And I highly doubt the fall was high enough to kill him on impact. but if there’s no trace of foul play, however no water in lungs, I don’t know what did it. Has to be that they swept it under the rug.
