1991 Review - Mitsubishi Diamante
Mitsubishi used to compete with Acura and Audi with that car....sort of.

The first (and only) new car I've ever purchased was a Lancer.
Before that, I couldn't afford anything decent. After that, I realized buying brand new is a waste of money.
But, at the time, they gave me 0 payments for a year and a good interest rate, so I went with it.
Got 8 good years and about 150K miles out of the car, and when it started acting up, I sold it for $2,000.

Did it have that big 2.6L inline 4? Those were good motors.
First generation Eclipse Turbo AWD bears mention as well.

Lancer Evo IX MR
The X MR removed the manual and replaced it with paddles.

I bought a car about a year ago and I was all pumped up to buy an Evo. When I found that I'd have to settle for a used one with a paddle-shifted gearbox, I got a WRX instead.

Starion
Fun fact, this car was originally meant to be called the Stallion (inspired by the Ford Mustang), but the people in North America kept misunderstanding the pronunciation the Japanese execs were using on phone calls, so that's how they ended up with "Starion."
Anyway, here's some pics as an homage to the cool stuff they made once upon a time:

I can't believe it took until the second page to get mentioned.

The only potential issue was the Jet Valve (MCA) head. Due to the geometry of the valve placement, if the head got hot, it would fail in the short area between the jet valve and the intake or exhaust valves.
I put 150k on it in six years then let it run hot (didn't change the coolant) and sold it to a guy in Franklinton where it resides today.

That grey 3000gt vr4 is sweet. Hard to believe that back in the 90s one could buy that car or an all wheel drive turbo 4 that took mods readily and willingly. Sharp looking cars too. Really a shame to see it end.
