Of course they are, they also think a work day involves playing on social media for a minimum of two hours a day.
You're saying this as you post on tigerdroppings......

About a year after I started my career out of college I was offered a raise or and extra 40 hours of vacation. Being young I took the extra vacation/personal time. A couple years later with a mortgage and bills I had realized how foolish I was. I never took an extra vacation, it did not roll over and I found myself taking 2 weeks off at Christmas time each year and didn't do much of anything.
However Christmas shopping during the day two weeks before Christmas is nice btw.

Millennials are more motivated by vacation time than salary
This was told to me by someone in HR for a fairly large company. Do you find this to be true or false?
Well, it would depend on the delta between the two...
If a company is paying significantly less than market rate, then vacation time would certainly be a motivator for them.
That said, the "catch" with "unlimited vacation" that some companies use, is that most people do not, generally, use the 2-3 weeks of vacation that most people are allotted. Also, most of those same companies lure you in with the promise of unlimited vacation, but then will inform you that it has to be approved, so if you have an a-hole-ish manager, then your unlimited vacation turns to limited quickly.
In the end, if the offered salary is shite, then vacation could be a deciding factor for someone that wants to work at that company. But, if you go to a company that will pay above market rate, then vacation will be less of a factor. But, if you're not offering at least two-weeks at this point, then you're behind the 8-ball.

I'm 29 with 3 weeks of PTO/year (vacation/sick) and would definitely take a pay cut for another week of PTO

I don't feel like this is a a view held only by millenials, but I'll let the "get off my lawn" crowd have their millenial bashing moment of the week

As a millennial, I was motivated by salary. I chose my degree based on salary. I chose my job based on salary.
Hell, I chose my wife partially based on her salary.

Millennial here, and I could give two shits about vacation time.
On a side note, I am on the "permissive time off" so I do not have a set vacation schedule.

Vacation time is the primary reason I'll never move back to the US after living and working in England for the last 13 years

How much do you get in England?
Posted on 8/14/17 at 2:06 pm to stout
Depends on the dollar value but I currently prefer more vacation over a raise. Unmarried no kids.
What good is making a shite ton of money if you're only off 15 days a year?

You're a socialist though. Work isn't really your thing

I'd say it's probably more common with millennials than other generations.

If you want to make millions of dollars you do it through equity, or ownership; no one gets mega rich from wages.
so keep on trucking along at your 9-5 wagie, just lol

I'd take the raise because as long as the company is performing at a high standard, I can take all the paid leave I want. Too bad I have a great work ethic and have only taken about 40 hours in the past 2 years. All of that is about to pay off since I am having surgery next week that will put me in the bed for 2-4 weeks. As long as I answer my phone after week 1, its all paid and not counted against my "official PTO"

Who said anything about making millions of dollars? Top 1% will suffice. That's not millions of dollars per year in income.
