Whose idea was it to take shop class out of school?

I always have once my vehicle is paid off. I also change the brakes pads, spark plugs, fuel filters, alternators, AC condensers, radiators, and anything else once the warranties run out.

Always have and always will until I retire then I’ll let other places do it all but until then I’m doing it myself. Guess I can thank my dad for teaching me how to do it all when I was younger. even though he worked shift work in a plant he still took the time to help me and teach me how to do all I know along with fishing, farming, hunting, and instilled in me a good work ethic.

Oh wow human characteristics are changing based on the times and technological conditions they’re living under. Huge shock

Many millennial dads reported not owning a cordless drill (46%), a stepladder (49%), a set of screwdrivers (38%) or even a hammer (32 percent) — an item owned by 93% of boomer dads.

Just like the reddit post, which generation killed off shop class?

My HS nephew took woodworking last year and welding this year.

Those who depend on technology become its slaves.

BS. Toilets, tires, light fixtures, outlets, and tile work the same as before.

People don't like Millenials. It's kind of silly and unfair. You didn't choose when and where you were born.

Still, though... people don't like Millenials.

My dad (70) was a fix/build everything guy. I’m not far off. At the same time. If I think I can pay someone else to do it right the first time. I have no problems with that. Especially if it’s electrical.

Boomers don’t seem to value their own time. If you find intrinsic value in fixing your plumbing or changing your tire, that’s wonderful. ...but, most people would rather pay someone else to fix their shite, so they can spend their free time playing video games or even spend time listening to their wives bitch about lazy neighbors.

It's great if you choose to do something else with your time. The implication of the article is that a lot of Millenials couldn't perform some very basic skills if their life depended on it.

Stupid article.

Are they less able to do it, or more willing to pay s omeone else to do it.

And then, whose fault is it if they are really less able?

Theirs or the boomer fathers who didn't teach them?

Didn’t account for age or living situation.

So, in short, study finds that men who have 20+ years more life experience and are statistically more likely to own a house are likely to own more tools and have more handyman skills than men with 20+ years less life experience and who are statistically more likely to rent.

Blown. The frick. Away.

I can do every task they asked about, but don’t own a step ladder or power drill, so I would be part of their har har statistic. Never mind that I live in an apartment and have no need for either of them...

In fact, the only useful statistic I found in that article was that Boomers are full of shite. A full 38% believe they are just as or more technologically savvy as their millennial children? Stop it...

Hell, now I’m not even sure that I believe you own a step ladder...

If someone can’t watch YouTube and figure out how to do simple stuff, that’s their own fault

Millenial here. I have:
-changes a faucet sprayer
- fixed 2 leaky faucets
-hung shelves both in my ceramic tile shower and around the house
- installed my own outdoor speaker system
-installed puck lighting under my cabinets
-uprooted a Bush, leveled the ground and put down pavers
-cleared brush that previous owners let grow about 5 feet to my original property line
-cleaned out, tilled, and planted a flower bed
bed
-I do my own pest control
-do all my own lawn and yard care

I've owned my first house for about a year and have yet to call my home warranty. Do I get help from YouTube and the home and garden board...yes. but this millenial is getting shite done.
