started getting migraines in high school. As I've gotten older, they are less intense. The same blurry vision and beginning stages, but the headaches aren't as bad as they used to be. I also noticed that once I fee one coming on, I take 3 ibuprofen, drink a coke, and eat something whether I am hungry or not. It seems to have taken some of the intensity down. I still get one about 3-4 times a year, but I rarely have to leave work for them anymore
pretty much me

Im in hell right now. Which explains the bump.

I get the visual aura without the pain, thankfully. Like looking thru a jagged broken window

Mine always start with what you are referring to without too much pain. I get spots in my eyes and I cant read anything cause my vision is that disoriented. And then once the spots go away and my vision returns, my head starts POUNDING. Right behind my eyes.

Ik its not the right thing to do, but I find its better when I distract myself with TD or watchig some video instead of closing my eyes. Ill doze off eventually.

Used to get them frequently (about once a week), with aura and vomiting - the whole nine yards - back in my teens and twenties. I tried all sorts of meds to kill the migraine once started including imitrex injections with zero luck.

What works for me now is a combo of topamax and propranolol as preventative measures. Have had only about two in 15 years now.

As soon as the signs of a migraine start I take 4 Advil and down a large Red Bull. It works more than half the time.

Accupuncture moderated mine

This is strong advice. You’ve already diagnosed your issue, it’s emotions and only happens when most stressed. A good acupuncturist can help create better energy flow in your body (your Chi) by removing those blockages.

This coupled with a good Chiropractor and yoga once or twice a week will change your life.

I've dealt with them for close to 20 years now. Lately they've been much more frequent.

Ask you doctor about a prescription med. Rizatriptan is what I take and it works really well if you take it early on. Headache is usually gone within half an hour. Can only take two a day, so it's imperative that you take it when you feel the headache coming on. I always have my meds with me.

Imitrex is what a lot of doctors prescribe as well, but for me the rizatriptan worked better and was less expensive.

Migraines suck arse. Feels like your head is attacking you. Good luck.

Migraines are the worst. I saw a million doctors, tried a million things.

Daily apple cider vinegar and I’ve had 1 migraine in last 5 years. Was getting 20-30/per year

Imitrex made me worse for some reason

I haven't seen the correct answer yet.

I was diagnosed with Clusters. Pure hell, 2, three month cycles a year, multiple hits a day.

Abortive- 5 Hr energy at onset lessens significantly. The immitrex just sorta delays the inevitable.

If you want to break the cycle, you cluster bust. Trip lsd, mushrooms, or lsa. This puts them in remission. I went almost 5 years without having them till last year when they returned.

Been a while since I had one (years), but when I did get them, the nausea was almost as bad the pain. Believe it or not, Dramamine did as much for mine as anything. That, and being completely still. They’d last about 8-12 hours.

I had nocturnal migraines for about 20 years. I’d wake up unbelievably nauseated, puke for an hour, and go back to bed with the headache set at level ten. Then after two or three hours sleep, I’d be ok. They would usually occur around 4 or 5 am . Always the same. I’d take excedrin migraine but I’d puke it up so what’s the point. And I never wanted to take a daily medication for something that only occurred two or three times a year.

I keep a couple of bags of peas in the freezer...provides some relief along with quiet, dark rooms. The side effects of the meds were worse than the migraines. I have headaches 3-5 times per week and really bad ones every week or two...have been dealing with them for 50 years so it is just part of life.

I have had them all my life. When I was younger they were triggered by strenuous activity. I tried every migraine-specific medication available to no avail. About four years ago, my new neurologist prescribed my Firocet and instructed me to take one at the first sign of the migraine (I get the aura about 20 minutes before the full blown headache kicks in). It has worked wonderfully. It stops the headache before it starts. I will still get a little nauseated and have a slight hangover the next day but, all things considered, it's been amazing.

You may have cluster headaches, which are like migraines on steroids, and for which there is no known cure for. Some say small amounts of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) have been known to help.

I got one migraine after a longggg day of drinking and 100 degree weather...super dehydrated and I’ve never felt a comparable pain over such a long period of time.

I thought my head was going to explode. It is crushing. I hope to never experience anything like it again in my life.
