Would love to have a family one day to start our own traditions.
Maybe next year.

Baking traditions:
Fantasy Fudge - old Marshmallow cream recipe
Divinity
Peanut Butter Kiss cookies
Pressed Spritz cookies
Decorations - my tree has ornaments from everywhere I've been in the last 40 years and many other meaningful ones. It pretty much is the story of our lives.
My It's a Wonderful Life Village that I collected from the 80's and 90's.
We always do a Christmas puzzle. We watch A Christmas Story, Elf, and Christmas Vacation together. We usually do some Christmassy activity, like going to see lights or something.
I still do stocking stuffers for my grown up (30 something) kids. We have a new baby addition this year and cannot wait to find fun things to do with him!
Christmas is my thing and we do it big and a lot! I just wish I had a bigger family! Y'all 20 and 30 somethings...have more kids! I'm an only child, had 2 children, only 1 is married and I have 1 grandson. I wish I had a big, big family Christmas!!!

You've been working hard! Haven't had the haystacks in years. I love those and cheese straws.
What's your chex mix recipe? Also, why is the mix on paper towels?

Awesome! How do you make that kisses tree? I think I'd like to try making one

loosely adapted from the recipe on the back of the box but basically I keep it simple
- 4 cups rice chex
- 4 cups corn chex
- 0 cups wheat chex (these burn too easily)
- 1 cup of pecan halves (i dont waste my time on those lesser nuts..lets just cut to the chase)
- stick of butter melted in microwave then combined with
-- 2 Tbsp worchesture
-- 2 tsp season salt
-- 1 tsp onion powder
-- 1 tsp garlic powder
stir that up really well then pour over the dry ingredients in a large pyrex and toss it really well to make sure its not settling to the bottom of the bowl.
- 2 minutes in micrwave, take out and stir
- 2 minutes in micrwave, take out and stir
- 2 minutes in micrwave, take out and stir
Dump on paper towels to let it cool and also to soak up any excess oil that might make it less crispy then throw into a gallon ziplock and on to the next batch.
not saying its the best, but it seems to come out perfect every time and i get a ton of requests for it so i end up making about 20 batches.

super duper easy.
- Styrofoam tree from michaels/hobby lobby/joannes/walmart/wherver
- container of pins/needles (look in sewing section of walmart)
- a couple colorful bags of kisses.
i recomment a thimble or at least a glove when pushing the pins through the kisses or you'll start to feel it in your thumb after awhile.
just stick the pin through the chocolate and work your way up the Styrofoam tree from bottom to top.
We each used to get one growing up in our rooms so i would knock out the the entire back of the tree well before christmas

very easy. hardest part is finding a cookie press w/ the right 'shape' to get them to look like that. those tend to be sold out around christmas. **The tip has to be large enough for the 'dough' to come out since this is pretty thick, a thin tip will just frustrate you.
Cheese Straws
Ingredients
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups self rising flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups shredded (1/2 lb) at room temperature sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup (2 sticks) at room temperature butter
Preheat the oven to 350 °F.
Sift together the flour, cayenne and salt and set aside. Using an electric mixer, cream together the butter and cheese until blended. Add the flour mixture slowly, beating at low speed, then continue to beat for 5 minutes, until very creamy, scraping down the sides of the bowl several times.
Using a cookie press with a star tip, make 3-inch-long cheese straws, leaving at least 1/2 inch between each on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to racks to cool. Makes approximately 5 dozen cheese straws.

I drink bourbon, watch Die Hard, then jerk off and fall asleep.
Not too different from any other night.

I'm going to need your address there sport.
I'll bring an appetite and some whiskey.
Y'all will remember my visit as "Remember that time when dad invited one of his imaginary friends from the internet to come over and he ate all the tenderloin and got drunk and then we had to move because we were worried he might come back the next Christmas?"

Why are you pouring JD into glasses? Just drink it straight from the little bottle, save the effort for something worthy.

So interesting that you make it in the microwave. I have never done that. I always make it in the big foil pans in a slow oven until the butter mixture has dried up.

Play Aaron Neville's Christmas songs. It's the bomb.

Let’s see. We do advent calendars at home. And we make bourbon balls to give to my coworkers.
