I've had a beard for roughly 12 years (mid/late college to now). I've been hearing it's a fad since then. I don't really care. I feel strange without one now and it's just what I will do no matter what people think of it. But I don't buy the fad thing. It's for some people, not for others, and that's been the case for quite some time.

Had to be clean shaven every day when in the Army.
I still wear the high and tight haircut and usually when I do have facial hair I'll keep it trimmed to a 2 with my clippers. I've done the full beard thing , not for me, but then again I have a pretty face that doesn't need to be covered up

Yeah, I'm curious how long this has been a "fad".
I've been having a beard for 6+ years now. I just prefer the look of it. I look too young without a beard.

Reason why I'm not a fan of shaving every day.

Can confirm. Rocked the heavy stubble from 18-early twenties, killed it. Rocked the full beard for the last 4 years. Just this year started wearing it even fuller and with more length than I had been before and it's powers have only increased.

I have absolutely tragic facial hair after about 5 days growth(it gross slow).
But every girl I've ever been with loves it after about 3 days and hates it when I shave.
And that's why I shave with a razor about once per year now.

My buddy works at the jail and he said the whole thing with the beards started with inmates and it’s how they know each are “down” as in “beards down, pants down”

I shaved in 2014. I’d had a short beard for a while and was trimming it one night and decided to shave. My wife and daughter liked the beard better so I grew it back. Since then I haven’t gone clean shaven. Back in the late spring when it was getting warm outside I trimmed it pretty short. First time I had seen my face in 4 years. It’s just easier to trim it every week or so. And I like how it looks. I’ve also been hearing it’s a fad for several years. I think it is just more acceptable in the business world these days.
