According to a study published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology.
8,500 women were asked to rate men on their attractiveness as a long term
romantic partner.
Here's how the facial hair rated:
1. Heavy stubble
2. Full beards
3. Light stubble
4. Clean shaven
Beards were associated with a man's
masculine social dominance.

I'm sure that the current fad of trying to look outdoorsy and rugged by growing a beard has nothing to do with skewing those results.

I started growing mine partly because I got tired of shaving and partly because I just never had one at all, not because of some fad.
But I would agree. I want to see this survey run again when clean shaved is back "in".

Someone is jealous he can only grow pubes on his face. Ha.
Neither of your assumptions pertain to me, but I do maintain a scruff. Mainly b/c I dont want to have to shave everyday. And when I was younger it was cheaper to buy a face clippers instead, and keep it charged instead of buy good razors.
I always said the moment I had my first child I would start growing a mustache. Though I can grow a solid one in no time I dont think I can pull one off the my dad can. My ex hated mustaches, so we made a deal that if we got married I wouldnt have to be in the delivery room, which was one heck of a deal to me. Nvr told her that I dont think I can pull of a stache. Ha!
I do know some guys that would like to know that women dig back hair though...

You know what’s really attractive to women? When you line up that sweet New Iberia fade with your facial hair.
