There is some great outdoors opportunities near Boston. Maine, Berkshires, Cape Cod, etc... I'm sure if you're into fishing or boating or hunting you can figure something out.

Also most larger cities like that have sports leagues for people in their 20's, it's a great way to meet friends.

How do you make this more social? One of the goals is meeting new folks around Boston

For me, it’s the opposite of social. I spend my days in meetings, conference calls, and always interacting with people. When I build my models that’s my time to unwind in peace and solitude.

But it can be a social hobby. I’m sure there are some model clubs around a city the size of Boston.

Meetup.com is your friend:
- For athletic endeavors: join a running / cycling / mountainbiking / hiking / climbing / camping group
- For social: join a beer / wine / dinner-foodie group and take your SO
- Take your SO and learn how to dance (scenery is usually great)

For side hustle, do you have a skill you can teach? Or do side consulting?

Become a volunteer (this will give you the most joy). I'm betting there's a volunteer website that there that has all kinds of opportunities such as feeding the homeless, delivering meals to shutins, helping out w COVID / other medical needs, visiting senior facililities, etc.

For Boston, I would recommend:

- Park the car in the Harvard Yard with your girl
- Drinking Sam Adams
- Throw some Tea into the Harbor
- Start a chowder club

I brew beer, garden, and recently picked up the guitar. I wish I had more time for brewing and gardening, but life is busy right now.

I always encourage people to try HAM radio. It’s a unique skill to have and you’ll always find someone to talk to. Just last night I was talking to a guy from the UK until his wife nagged him so much he got off the radio There are so many different ways to get on the air, you’ll find something you enjoy.

Backpacking/hiking. Collecting and trying new gear is almost as fun to me as actually getting on trail.

Do you like cigars? Boston is well known for hosting massive cigar fests. At least they were prior to COVID. We’ve got a good community here on TD over on the Food and Drink board if you’re interested in getting started with cigars.

Look for a local running club. Most have beginner friendly scheduled runs. Also local triathlon clubs. Sprint triathlons are pretty easy and are fun to train for. Great way to meet people as well.

Search Meetup to see what local clubs/groups exist in your area. I expect they have a local hiking/backpacking or adventure group.

Frisbee Golf is a really low impact, fun, cheap hobby that doesn't take very long to complete. You can play a 9 hole course in 30-45 minutes...hell even over a lunch hour.
