yeah, hitting a field rat with the riding mower isn't nice.

While I've yet to see memorials with lights, the ones I have seen seem to be more of a problem for the grass cutters than anything else.
PS- I would hate to be the person tasked with the job of removing the memorials for the 5 teens outside of Houma, that might not end well.

Yeah, because T-Boy who died at the intersection at the front of my road was on par with Lincoln.
So he's less deserving of being remembered?

Do the light blink or sequence?

They get their own memorial.

It's a traffic hazard and can cause other people to die.
Drivers will slow down and stare (meaning they may wander into another lane) while others maintain their speed, causing potential problems.

Saw one yesterday on a bike that had the blinking LEDs as well. Bike was all white on the corner.

Two pages of dickheads that hopefully I won't see crosses in the right of way for.

I think it might be a driving hazard where someone might see the lights and not pay attention leading to a wreck.
But I never knew there was a graveside memorial etiquette.
Do go on.

Not talking about gravesides, road sides.

I never understood the point of these memorials on the side of the road. Especially when they are in people's yards and whatnot. There is a grave site for this, no need for roadside crosses. They started off as just crosses and keep growing into more and more stuff.

I am fascinated by them. Especially the ones people kept up for decades. That's a commitment worth noting.
In 3rd world countries, they are extremely useful in showing the dangerous spots in the road.

People should skip the road side memorials and go straight to the RIP stickers that take up the entire back glass on their car. I would.

I do not have a problem with them or even these memorial types that I've seen flashing.

We have a police memorial in front of a house not too far from me. Not a morning goes by that those flashing blue lights show up in my rearview and my initial thought is, "dammit, what did I do this time".
