Media Begins to Notice Problems Associated with Transgender Medical Treatments for Kids

But those of you that were questioning this were anti-science and hateful bigots.

…[A]as an increasing number of adolescents identify as transgender — in the United States, an estimated 300,000 ages 13 to 17 and an untold number who are younger — concerns are growing among some medical professionals about the consequences of the drugs, a New York Times examination found. The questions are fueling government reviews in Europe, prompting a push for more research and leading some prominent specialists to reconsider at what age to prescribe them and for how long. A small number of doctors won’t recommend them at all.
Dutch doctors first offered puberty blockers to transgender adolescents three decades ago, typically following up with hormone treatment to help patients transition. Since then, the practice has spread to other countries, with varying protocols, little documentation of outcomes and no government approval of the drugs for that use, including by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
But there is emerging evidence of potential harm from using blockers, according to reviews of scientific papers and interviews with more than 50 doctors and academic experts around the world.
The drugs suppress estrogen and testosterone, hormones that help develop the reproductive system but also affect the bones, the brain and other parts of the body.

As Reuters reported in October, a growing number of the children receiving care at the 100-plus gender clinics across the United States are opting for medical interventions – puberty-blocking drugs, hormones and, less often, surgery. And they are doing so even though strong scientific evidence of the long-term safety and efficacy of these treatments for children is scant.
That has led to a split among gender-care specialists: those who urge caution to ensure that only adolescents deemed well-suited to treatment after thorough evaluation receive it, and those who believe that delays in treatment unnecessarily prolong a child’s distress and put them at risk of self-harm.

Most of us already see it, but future generations are going to look back at this period of time in horror in how we mutilated our own children for virtue signaling and social media likes

Its the modern-day equivalent of giving children a lobotomy

Just two people living their life, trusting the science....

I see a whole lot of “trusting the science” with the latter group

It really is amazing how they decide to "protect" children these days. When I was growing up, if I did something wrong I would catch an arse whooping. At school, home, etc. Then all of a sudden it was taboo to spank your child. It was time out. Can't hurt the children. But these same parents allow this kind of shite and see no problem with it. Amazing.

Trusting the television or the internet isn't the same as trusting the science.

Hence the quotation marks.

So they're saying that many of the kids in the US are transgender? I'm throwing the BS flag on that figure.

True, but the "science" is also backed by real dollars, and changes its tune in kind based on what those dollar sources want it to be.
That's a bad thing.

We do know the number of people claiming to be transgender is growing exponentially. I think it’s clearly a social contagion spreading with the aid of adult persuasion.

Just like COVID, inflation, etc. we are going to say “I told you so” and the media will mostly ignore it.

I agree with the premise, but this reads like a puff piece without any actually data to support the assertions. Would be nice to see the negative effects purported in the studies.

99 of 100 scientists agree.......with whoever is funding them.

I agree with your post but I’m not sure linking legalinsurrection.com is proof the media cares or is taking notice.

It’s because they are being groomed and sold a lie.
Also another side effect of identity politics.

Well, kids are impressionable. Between the constant barrage of media messaging, and the influence of woke parents and teachers, that explains a lot of it. Sort of like mass hysteria.

No, they are saying identify as. It’s a huge difference in reality, although many progressives want identifying to be the equivalent of actually being.
