Because petrochemical sites are typically not located in a densely populated area

It is n't any different, but the folks from St. Amant will throw an absolute fit if a 20 lot subdivision gets announced next week. All the while they'll be bragging about the future output of the Geismar chem plant after the next expansion.

I'm from the area and never understood the thought process.

Because we dont nealry do the proper work to support the increased population. Cram as much residential as possible in as small an acreage as possible as quickly as possible is the only consideration that gets acted on

What named GZ would be in AP

Using that logic, SLP can only mean one thing. I don't type it all out because then I get clowned

I think they're actually trying to start a Together AP. Strangely, the Together group based in Monroe has a totally different character than the BR one. A lot of partnering with business. IIRC a big shot banker sits on their board.

Every town, cuty, county, parish that ever existed can make that complaint. Nobody in Ascension complained about the addition of the bowling alley, movie theatre, new resteraunts etc.

If you don't want traffic, any convenient amenities, or entertainment, move to Bunkie. The residential and commercial go hand in hand. You need finances and expansion from both sides to pay for the improvements. Look just beyond ascension's northern border.

It doesnt have to, and shouldn't be, a zero sum game. You can have growth without ruining the the characteristics that made a place desirable. It rarely happens in Louisiana-ask the Northshore-but it can be done.

A single 20 lot subdivision is all that is being approved for residential construction? Yeah right. It is 20 lots here 30 here 100 here and on and on.

AP will be the place to live in a few years. We already have the best public schools and the best economy. Money is flowing through AP right now. People fleeing BR and coming here. Business is booming folks. A lot of other parishes and cities should take note at how we do things cause we’re doing it the right way

Exxon is just using the expansion to bait for more tax cuts.

I’m sure Exxon is already planning to build it in Texas regardless. Just like the Ethylene Cracking plant they are building in Corpus Christi.

Exxon is already paying nearly nothing in property tax compared to the similar facilities in Beaumont and Baytown.

Exxon’s BR refinery/chem plant makes way too much money for them to sell.

Boohoo. You sound like my in-laws sitting at Thanksgiving dinner while wearing their red nomex. Want all the pleasures on the weekend but don't want to sit in a little traffic on the weekdays.

What does it even matter because you had a WHITE REPUBLICAN that voted against Exxon Mobil's ITEP too.

Exxon has since responded with these important quotes:

"The decision by the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board sends a message across the state and Gulf Coast that Baton Rouge is not a predictable site for future investment.”

“I can’t say that for sure,” says Stephanie Cargile, an ExxonMobil spokeswoman. “But the school board’s message will certainly weigh into that decision and future decisions.”

A little traffic? It sometimes takes me almost an hour to get home from Geismar to Galvez on weekdays. That's fricking ridiculous. The surface streets in AP can't handle the amount of traffic that drives over them. I wouldn't care about the constant additions of subdivisions if the the roads could handle it, but they can't. And AP isn't really doing anything to address it.

Is that AP work or State work that jacked up the Airline and 621 intersection? 621 backs up worse now after the "improvements"

Look at the BS with the Conway development. Them and (DH Horton??) tried to get out or delay road improvements so they could start selling homes.

Some of the roads are a travesty for the amount of taxe revenue flowing from the plants. I.E. Daigle, Henry, Causey, and 44 south of I-10

eta. The good ole boy network is still too strong with Matassa, Pendarvis, Grady M, etc.

Then you have councilwoman Casso selling her land for a development on an "F" rated road.

We had a chance to elect Cointment and get someone else in office, but Donaldsonville F'ed that up.
