Even if there is only one wound, and if the witness said that she made up what she said, that doesn't negate the fact that he shot and killed McKnight while he was sitting in his car at a red light.

What caused him to shoot? And are they just going off of testimonies to release him? If so, I find that very very strange.

If justified, then the negative connotations he was attempting to imply are bullshite.

You're either being purposely obtuse or naive or both. If the shooter was a 54yr old brotha that dude isn't on the street right now. I've been in the criminal system for over 20 years and that's just the way it is unfortunately.

No I'm not. I'm recognizing it's entirely possible this is a fishy scenario.

Or, there is pretty conclusive evidence not revealed to the public yet that totally changes the accounts we got from witnesses.

I don't know, and neither do you.

in fact, others have shown that he's the owner of a LLC and may have no connection to JPSO

Yeah the sheriff thing could be completely false, but assuming he has competent legal representation is probably a safe bet.

By releasing this guy for now, they've created a little room for the jailing the criminal behaviour in your alleged upcoming racial fires.

I don't yet see any downsides.

no... but...

a local star has been shot and killed... so the media's going to be all over this already

considering the racial tension we have right now... releasing a white guy who you had in custody and (as you, the SO, said) has admitted to killing said AA star athlete is asking for trouble

Sheriff Normand better hold a presser to explain the decision to release him

i'm sure the police are working on that angle.

are they just going off of testimonies to indict him? probably not. It'll be a multi-faceted investigation.

Calm your emotions and let it play out.

The JPSO says that they can only hold someone so long while waiting to decide whether or not to press charges. They are appealing to the public for anyone who saw the incident to contact the sheriff's office.

It's amazing how people are willing to jump to conclusions based on what they read on twitter, Facebook, and message boards. Never let the facts (which may not yet be known) get in the way of a good outrage session.

The appeal tells me that they find the main witness statement to be suspect at best.

They know there are charges there somewhere but they need to put the pieces together.

To me, your argument doesn't support why he should've been released. I don't disagree with any of your points, but you should still keep him in custody in my opinion.

Newell and that entire department are absolutely brazen enough to do something like this and then tell everyone to frick off.

Yeah this wasn't embellished at all.

Well they didn't even hold him for the 24 hours. Multiple witnesses said he shot McKnight, don't see how they can let him go without charges if they don't have opposing evidence (which they should've released by now).
