Actually as a taxpayers, yes we are. And considering our tax dollars also go to fund their food and their public schooling, I'd say we are heavily involved financially in their lives.

None of this would be an issue, however if:

1) People who can't afford children would fricking stop having children

2) These same people would actually contribute to the tax base and not be a negative for it.

I didn't sign the St George petition last time but I am going to this time and I know of four others who are doing the same.

OK. Most people know that I am White. And most know that I have been a USC fan for much longer than Reggie has been playing football .

Mayor Broome ... to prevent second St. George

She's a day late and a dollar short.
The day she was elected was a guarantee that the great City of St George WILL get passed.

"My message has been the same: I cannot and will not support any type of pull out that tears our community apart," Broome said.

Bitch, please.

Nope. We're gonna have those HOV lane cameras at every entrance point and they're going to detect skin color. Anyone too dark and the St George ICE officers stationed nearby get notified and they track them down.

listen up....there is a certain segment of the population which does not seem to care much for education, work ethic, family values and have been basically left ruder-less and without true leadership, in precisely those areas. Choosing instead, to blame others for their own "cultural" failures and wallow in self pity.
St. George residents seem to be largely in the opposite camp and have every right to DEMAND decently run schools, government and law enforcement.
Once one UNDERSTANDS the basics....things are fairly easy to predict !

Yes he can. You need to do your research. LSU has been moved before. The Journalism building was disassembled at the old campus and reassembled in its current location.

The vast majority of upper class families are already in Baton Rouge. Upper class families are not going to send their kids to a mediocre public school, so why fight the traffic? As property values rise in BR due to gentrification, poors are going to move to St George. It is already happening and it will only get worse if St George has a better school system than EBR. That means lower property values in St George to go along with the higher taxes to pay for the new school system and whatever else the St George council doesn't want to share with EBR. If people really want to create a community with no poors, they should follow the Madison, MS blueprint. Move to the closest parish that doesn't already have a lot of development or poor people and create some extremely restrictive zoning.

This actually makes a ton of sense. People will be forced out of the city limits because of gentrification. No one is fixing the traffic any time soon, so the only answer is to move to the established neighborhoods with good infrastructure. Those forced out will end up outside the city limits, in what would be St George. Those in St George who can't afford to move in and don't like the change in demographics will move to AP or LP.

Somewhat refreshing as a city limit dweller, no offense to the St George supporters

Simple question, as I've been away from BR from a while: why the name St. George?

St. George is the name of a community in unincorporated EBR but as already stated, the fire district which protects most of the southern area of unincorporated EBR parish is called the St. George Fire District.

It's a name already familiar most of the residents in the potential new city.
