Still unofficial, but my source is very reliable.

Ah... thanks. I need to read up on this guy. We seriously need a viable candidate. Unfortunately, I'm of the opinion that BR is stuck in a democratic rut and headed down the same path as Detroit. I don't think we'll ever see another Republican mayor in our time.

You’ll be too drunk to remember who to support and who to oppose

Mayor/president is elected parish wide. A republican can win here if they’re not backwards, anti-business dixiecrat cartoon characters like Bodi White, whom she beat 52/48. It was a low turnout runoff where both candidates actually lost votes from the primary.

It’s all about turnout. If a republican can rally the burbs and the disaffected business types who were bamboozled last time, a rep can win.

They have a strong voting block but a strong candidate can win definitely win. Bodi White was terrible so many just stayed home.

My place of budiness is in his district.
I’ll look for you.

A brief history of Broome/Baton Rouge and St. George:

Mid 2000s:
SG: Hey, we want new schools in our area.
Baton Rouge: Go frick yourself. If you want new schools, form a school district, but to do that, you need to incorporate a city.

2015:
SG: We have the signatures needed to proceed.
Baton Rouge: frick you. We worked with the sleezy arse pieces of shite in TogetherBR to magically invalid just enough signatures to fail your petition.

2019:
SG: We won!
Baton Rouge: frick you. We're not losing our slush fund. And go frick yourself for trying to better your own lives.

The perfect TL;DR version for outsiders trying to figure out the BS we are dealing with.

And don't forget that "you're all a bunch of racists for ever even thinking about this..."

Broome throttled downtown over that recall petition.

Wasn't downtown on the rise until Broome took office?

Between Edwards and Broome which hurt Downtown the most?

If I recall correctly, Broome initially appeared to be more of a business-friendly moderate, similar to Holden. She took a hard black lives matter turn to appeal to the NBR voters who were still stirred up about the Alton Sterling situation.

Broome by a wide margin.
Broome revived open-container. The whole point of a strip of bars is that they feed off of each other through bar-hopping. Combined, they function like one giant bar that caters to all different kinds of crowds. White girls with zero attention span love that shite. Once they started cracking down, the white girls couldn’t bar hop, so they abandoned downtown for the overpass area. Without the bar-hoppers, most of the bars folded. Since they all relied on one another, it was a domino collapse. Happy’s is the only one still thriving.

Broome also let the tram project die on the vine along with many other “gentrification” initiatives that would have bolstered downtown, mid city, and old south br.

Bingo

What scares me now is all the big wheels backing her now. She will become more brazen with their support. It’s going to get worse.

A decent candidate should easily beat her. She won by 4100 votes last time to get less than 52%

We aren’t that young anymore, but we liked the atmosphere down there. The Village, Strophes, and the Watermark drew us in. Then things went South.

It’s a shame too.
