I've seen pics of her elsewhere and while she's nice looking she's no "smoke show."

I think you missed the key ingredient that led to the peace.

Goober used to teach at my high school long before I went there.

That's all I've got.

I don't consider the color episodes to be part of the canon.

I don't think anybody does. They had the perfect character to take over for Barney in Jerry Van Dyke, introduced him in the the last B&W, but lost him to another show before the next season. It wasn't just the crappy characters in the color episodes, it was the color itself. It didn't just kinda take away the magic, I don't anybody realized how ugly as frick the sets were until the color episodes. It was hard to look at. Also it's been said that Andy checked out after Don left. His acting sucked in the color episodes, he didn't even seem like the same guy

It's almost like the entire premise of the show changed. Instead of solving the town's problems with simple country wisdom, Andy became someone who was annoyed or exasperated with everyone all the time.

Some have theorized that Griffith's real life personality came out more in these later episodes. Griffith himself admitted he was much more like the grouchy Ben Matlock than the easy going Andy Taylor.

The nurse and Ellie were the best Helen not so much. Except the one episode where it was revealed that she was a mob hoe in Kansas City.

Floyd had a kid who played the saxophone, and a hot female penpal.

3rd season, but yeah.

Plus Peggy's family was loaded. Her Dad owned the grain elevators up in Raleigh, and he sent her a T-Bird Sports Roadster with Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels out of the blue.

I've been watching Andy Griffith since I was a kid. Still watch it daily and can pretty much recite the lines in each episode. I have never watched a color episode. Can't stand them.

The theater building at University of North Alabama is named after George Lindsey:

The Lindsey Theatre at UNA

If I went there, I’d insist on calling it “The Goober”.

Interesting.

If you have never seen this movie it might make you think he was not acting and just playing himself. Good if you have never seen it as much applies even today about the difference between a person and who we think they are by the media portrayals of how they let us perceive them to be.
