No shite. Why would a developer risk life and limb to try to resurrect a shite hole into something that will inevitably turn right back into a shite hole.

Just think of all the broken out car windows, shootings going to and from that site on the interstate, local thugs hanging on the outskirts like vultures waiting to pounce....
What could go wrong?????

They should just turn it into a massive prison and throw the trash in there like El Salvador is doing.
Ding ding ding ding ding.
Said it for years. Make a Guantanamo Bay like prison where anyone that goes there will think twice about doing any violent crimes. Instead Nola is the city where you can do any violent crime and be let out of prison the next day with no questions asked.

Millions of out-of-town visitors are going to flock to NOLA which will become another version of Disney and Universal.

Is there a local population to support something like that
There’s a population that will destroy it in short order.

Government handouts, tax breaks, pay friends to do studies on the taxpayer dime

If you build it they will come.
And completely ruin it.
And completely ruin it.

That looks like another NOLA boat.
BOAT [boht] noun - A hole in the water into which money is thrown, though it never fills up.

But no dirt has been turned at the site, and many major hurdles remain. Financing still needs to be secured, and no tenants have been signed. Those are to come over the next year, Bayou Phoenix says.
The 99-year-lease has not yet been signed, and it is contingent on the authority board’s approval of the master plan. The board next meets on April 10, though the master plan is not currently on the agenda.
Yeah It will never happen...

When you check in, do you get your bulletproof vest from the valet or is it waiting in your room?

, there are plans for 30 acres of athletic fields illuminated with professional-level lights, eight NBA-level hardwood courts, an indoor and outdoor water park, hotels, restaurants, a film studio, and lots of shopping. That’s just a few details in the half-a-billion-dollar plan that the developer hopes will only take 42 months to complete.
That sounds like pretty good value, honestly. Complete bullshite, but it sounds good.
