The master plan for the former Six Flags site in New Orleans East is out. As of right now, developers are calling it Bayou Phoenix. The lot spans over 200 acres and has been vacant for about 18 years. Now, there are plans for 30 acres of athletic fields illuminated with professional-level lights, eight NBA-level hardwood courts, an indoor and outdoor water park, hotels, restaurants, a film studio, and lots of shopping. That’s just a few details in the half-a-billion-dollar plan that the developer hopes will only take 42 months to complete.

Is there a local population to support something like that?

Somebody is about to make a bunch of money, and nothing will be built.

I have the distinct feeling I would want to be nowhere near this park, even during the day.

That whole thing seems sort of dumb even if this were a basically functional place.

They should just turn it into a massive prison and throw the trash in there like El Salvador is doing.

Eight nba level hardwood courts……. Not for long.

500 million dollars in NOLA would be better spent campaigning against the next Dem mayor.

The local population is what ruins it for the people you'd actually want to draw there.

Look how many cars that parking lot can fit!

So much space for break-ins, might as well include an auto-glass factory on-site

can’t wait to load up the minivan with the wife and kids, pull out of the safeties of suburbia, and head down to…..NOLA East.
