Yep.

Mental illness and the ambivalence towards it is the true epidemic in this country.

Somewhere along the way, something has programmed these kids to do these things.

I don’t mean an actual “program”, but certainly some type of conditioning has occurred.

Guns only became animated for either good or evil. People doing evil are to blame.

It started with the media started making school shooters infamous "celebrities" and society started attributing virtue for being a "victim". While there were others before it, probably the most famous school shooting where such events really entered the psyche of society was Columbine High in 1999. In that event it was a couple of misfits that decided to cause carnage at the school...knowing full well the result of their actions would be either death or lifetime imprisonment. Didn't matter. They wanted to become some sort of anti-heroes, and the media covered the shooting to a degree like never before.

This, without question, inspired other misfits to do the same, knowing full well the end result was likely their own death. But it didn't matter. They knew the media would reflexively cover it to a huge extent and the shooter would become an infamous, anti-hero. Gaining the notoriety he didn't get in his day to day life, and being linked forever as someone who got revenge on his "enemies" and/or a society that outcast him.

Shall not be infringed

Is that phrase any more restrictive than “Congress shall pass no law”?

Because the first amendment is certainly not absolute.

When’s the last time we went a calendar year without one of these incidents?

The US has among the lowest amount of psychiatric beds available of anywhere in the western world.

We have to drastically change how we handle mental illness in this country.

We won't, we have chosen to normalize and even celebrate it now. It's only going to get worse.

What's your plan for diesel and fertilizer? I seem to remember a lot of folks, including many kids, being killed with those in the 90's

Meh. Columbine was covered like nothing before it because no school shooting had been that deadly. I am by no means defending the media but it was a story worth covering. Odds are the kid who did this shooting doesn't know anything about the Columbine kids.

Well, they can’t enforce “Murder”. We have to dissect it a bit: hate crime, pre meditated…..abortion…..

I'll get a lot of downvotes, but don't think for one second that the CIA hasn't dabbled in school shootings. It is election season after all.

how about actually doing something about what drives people to commit violence?

But everyone gets their panties bunched up if we put the 10 Commandments in classroom.

Maybe we need to teach morals.

If at 4 they don't say it's a white male, then it's an LGBT+ person
