MARS- someone explain why colonizing is so important
So what exactly is the point?
Why man goes anywhere. To get away from the blacks.

I just want them to do it so I can start the "Decolonize Mars" movement and bemoan the lack of diversity on Mars

Because it is not humanity’s destiny to die out on Earth. If we’re ever to become an advanced civilization capable of interplanetary colonization/ exploration then we better figure out terraforming and what better place to start than the nearest planet that potentially sustained life at one point.

How do we know space aliens aren't future us who have mastered space time travel?

The goal is human advancement.
Think of the technological advancements we have made in the current space program.
The amount of advancements that could come from the build up to a Mars colony and sustaining would likely be even more so.
On top of that, spreading humanity as far as possible is essential to the species.
This would be one tiny step in the next 1000 years of space expansion.

Do you need another reason?

Humanity consists of moronically destructive individuals and our species will most likely self-destruct, resulting in our extinction.
In Scruffy’s personal opinion, the most advantageous and intelligent action would be to spread humanity as far and wide as humanly possible throughout the stars, making our extinction essentially impossible.
On behalf of the moronically destructive individuals, challenge accepted.

most valuble commodity that is finite here on earth is Territory
Adding the moon and Mars expands territory, and the resources associated with that territory.....

Say what you will about Elon Musk but with his plans to bring people to Mars, no one is a more creative serial killer.

Human nature is to explore and expand.

Have to expect the life expectancy to severely drop when a species changes environments. Say about, about, about a 1/3rd casualty rate?
Posted on 9/8/23 at 12:43 pm to Covingtontiger77
If humans are going to survive and continue to evolve we will have to leave earth. There arent enough resources to sustain the rapid growth we are seeing in technology long term.

At first, yes. Theoretically you could introduce vegetation and terraform the planet to have a breathable atmosphere.

To escape once the left takes over and puts everyone in camps.

As far as we know, Mars is the only planet inhabited solely by robots.
