I think you missed the point he was trying to make. He is leading them to be good Catholics by way of him showing them how to live through faith each and everyday. If he forces the faith upon them, there is a good chance they will resent it and stray away.

That's how I interpreted it.

quote:

"I want them to understand that dad has to start his day by getting on his hands and his knees. And no matter where I am, the priority on Sunday is to go to church."

In other words, "don't do as I say; do as I do."

Children, are not adults. You don't offer them a choice. You instruct them. I can't believe it needs to be spelled out.

That is what the Catholic Church demands. It seems like a lot of people want it to conform to their own ideas. That's fine. It's just not the teachings of the Church.

You're doing good work here, Ricardo. All we can do is try. I'm a musician, and very orthodox Catholic in my approach to music; I work for a VERY Catholic institution, my choice. I have lived it for decades, if that doesn't make me too proud or haughty. Both of my boys have apathetically rejected in their actions. My younger now plays for me, and I'm hoping being present in the building with the Blessed Sacrament might affect his outlook.

But, as we see, they are all about the culture around them, they absorb it, to our dismay. It would help if their mother were still trying, too. However, they're in their 20s, and they've seen what I do, and how I approach it. I can only pray that they make the connection, again. They KNOW, and I think they respect, but they're not ready to acknowledge it for themselves.

It really is when you look at it. His expressing these beliefs in his industry could cost him $millions$.

But of course it pales in comparison to the bravery you have shown with your anonymous shot at him.

You think the first draft referenced Boogie Nights?

His movie Father Stu was underrated and a great true story.

Well....

quote:

"[Faith] it’s everything, it’s afforded me so many things… God didn’t come to save the saints, He came to save the sinners… We want to be better versions of ourselves, and through focusing my faith, it’s allowed me to do that," Wahlberg told Savannah Guthrie.

He learned his lesson and embraced his Faith and has been very successful because of it. His life could have taken a very darker turn.

Idk, I have a difficult time giving him kudos for his faith after some of his roles, mainly playing a porn star.

Exactly. And Ted wasn't exactly a family movie either.

Well, Good Vibrations was about community unity.

And I am embarrassed to know that.

Seems like he’s doing just that, by example. If they follow his lead, they’ll be fine. You can’t force anything on anyone, it has to happen organically. His kids will know the correct path, it’ll be up to them to follow.

This is what we need more of in the mainstream. Not politics, not party, not crazies on one side or the other, but faith. Not only faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but faith in mankind. Maybe his kids won’t be the only ones to follow his lead.

Maybe. I think his brother from New Kids was part of the Funky Bunch.

Seriously, I like Mark and his family. They are well grounded folks. I kinda got to know a little more of his backstory through Wahlburgers, the burger franchise his other brother kinda runs.

His friendship with Seth McFarland always surprised me. Seth basically thinks the religious are fools.

No. Marky was asked to join NKOTB but thought they were soft. He blazed his own trail and created a couple of gems. At least that’s what my friend told me.
